Kojima Eagle Reborn

Some of you may remember a couple of weeks ago i purchased a used 'kojima eagle' from ebay for $12.50au..

update on that is it rides like a champion... very smooth and quiet and fast... cruises along pretty damn well.. my only dislike was the colour... so i decided to rebirth it....

from this:

to this:

still to come some new tyres with blue trim
new seat (cant decided between black or white)
new pedals

and i'll attack the spokes with some sandpaper/steel wool/metal polish...

after a quick go the results look promising but it looks like it'll be a long long job to get them shining again..

cheers,

Droid

Bikes: Cro-Mo road bike with Exage 300

Kojima Eagle

Droid

I too have a Kojima Eagle, Sime Darby frame Shimano Exage 300 7 speed groupset with indexed downtube shifters. I like the elyptical Biopace chainrings. Bike weight 12kg. I ride alternate 30km and 50km routes each afternooon and between 130 and 160km on Saturdays - just for fun. I've upgraded the bottom bracket to a sealed unit as the original 3 piece required too much maintenance. Also changed the 12-23 cassette to 11-27, shifts are a bit rough but I can push at highter speeds and also push the hills around the blue mountains. On my last 50km ride which includes 150m climb and descent average speed was 29.8 kph. I did however have a 30kph fall after hitting oil on a downhill corner aproaching Cattai Creek.

I love the bike, it's strong and reliable. I have no desire to change to alloy or carbon fibre. I would however like a 7 speed campo groupset.
