Look kg96 team replica
I got this bike yesterday and it has a strange mix of parts. C-Record headset, brake levers and front derailleur. Super record shift levers , cranks? and brakes? 8 speed shimano 600 hubs. I don't know if I misidentifiyed any of those parts, If I did please let me know.
I have some questions concerning those parts;
1-Could they possibly be original (excepts for the hubs) , the bike being made during a transition period between c-record and super record ?
2-The date stamp on the cranks is and 11 inside a square, from what year are they? The outer chainring is definately chromed , never seen that before, any information on that?
3-The rear derailleur is has no patent date, are these more sough after than their patent date stamped ciblings ?
4-Should I suppose the headset is french threaded and I won't be able to use it on my Gios frame?
Any information on the bike or components would be apprciated thanks!

Beyond my capability to help you, but it's an interesting bike...

1. I wouldn't know for sure, but I would imagine that it was pieced together by the previous owner. Hence the mis-match parts
2. 11 inside a rectangle refers to 1985-crank is Super Record as well
3. The R/D is Super Record and I think only the first generation SR and most NR had the patent date stamp.
4. Take it apart and see what is stamped on the headset parts. Every Campagnolo headset I have taken apart has had the threading stamped on it somewhere. (1" x 24=English or 25mm x 1=French)
Notice I said I think, and I don't know for sure because Campagnolo can be very confusing. I know someone will chime in if I am incorrect on anything.

I seriously doubt that by the time this frame was built they would have used a french headset, but you will know as soon as you look under the lock nut. You IDed everything correctly. No the the no patent super record as the last generation so they are the least desirable for a collector point of view but it's still super record... I don't know what they are going for right now but nuovo record is going pretty cheep (under $50 in many cases).

Thanks for the info, at least the headset is italian threaded and will look very good on the gios frame I have. The last thing I would like to know is if anyone has ever seen another chromed SR chainring?

Funny you mention it, I was looking at the photos again and about to ask if it was steel. is it chromed aluminum? Chromed alloy campagnolo parts are out there but they seem a rare anomaly...

Magnet says steel but I think the chrome is at cause here, the attraction is minimal.

chrome is not magnetic, but it could be that the fasteners are having an effect. That is also an interesting inner ring...I don't recognize the markings. Is it a campy?
oh, and all of my super record derailleurs save one have a date code, just where the cable housing enters the derailleur. The non-dated one came from a very late (88, maybe?) bianchi, and didn't have titanium pivot bolts...

I have a KG96 as well and have heard that they are carbon/kevlar frames. Do you know where the kevlar is on the frame? Is the butting kevlar? Also, does your frame have an integrated seatpost clamp? Mine has two screws in the back of the seat tube that literally screw into the back of the seatpost to retain it. I've never seen anything like it, but it's functional.
