Not quite sure what is meant here but in 1994 there was no X0-1 or X0-2. The X0-3 was the "lo-cost version of the 1993 X0-1" (bridgestone catalog)

Not too sure about the purists and the cut-off thing either. At least for 1993 the !, 2, 3, X0's all had the same tubing, Ishiwata CrMo triple butted and the wheels including the X0-4 were 26". 700c came on the X0-5. In '94 the X0-3 had 26" and the 4 and 5 had 700c.

They are very nice bikes to ride but i don't know either about touring but i have certainly enjoyed a day out on my X0-3 packing lots of 'stuff'.

Btw , the 1992 tubeset for the X0-1 was the Ishiwata and the X0-2 was as mentioned earlier Tange CroMo butted.

My 94 XO-3 is a dandy bike. I wouldn't use it as a fully loaded tourer but do find it nice for weekending and commuting.
