Paramount 50th on ebay

I'd hate to see this get lost in the craigslist/ebay thread so
I'm starting a new one for it.
As far as I'm concerned this is ne plus ultra of late model
paramounts, owned by well. . . y'all know him and his photography.
good think it's not my size.

Wow! What a beauty... Sure was a great job/ A++ on presentation...
There was briefly one of those hanging at UBikes in Boulder... I loved going in to gaze at it...

I'm sorry Marty, but I feel like I'm missing something here. Who's WF was that? Kurt's??
And speaking of Kurt, where the heck has he been??

It is/was Ray Dobbins' bike. I know he spent a lot of time polishing those parts to make that auction page sparkle like that.

When I posted that I hadn't realised it was sold.
I also posted thinking most of us cross subscribe to
CR list, assuming (yah I know) we all knew Ray.

I need to get a photo studio in my garage
Nice presentation

I felt like the chain was overlooked though. Everything was immaculate but the chain

Thank God it sold when it did. I was starting to give in to temptation, and I only saw it this morning. It was my size!

Someone probably just got their dream bike. Like Lotek, I am glad it was not in my size.

Drooling over that bike just makes me want a peek at the rest of his collection he choose to KEEP over the Paramount!

Too true

I felt like the chain was overlooked though. Everything was immaculate but the chain

-------------------------

I did that on purpose - I was holding back on the bling!

Not really. I agree that I overlooked the chain. Toward the end of the process I realized the chain wasn't up to par with the rest of the bike, and I should change it...but the thought of reshooting so many pics was too just too daunting. The process of shooting, editing and assembling the pics took me several days. I just couldn't see doing it over for the chain alone.

Of course now I wish I had. Thanks a lot.

Seriously, thanks to all for your positive comments (including the chain).

Absolutely stunning! If I bought her she'd have to keep me warm because my wife wouldn't. I'd be torn between keeping her pristine and riding her.

Ray, good to see you join the C&V crew over here as well. Sorry to hear you had to part with the Paramount, but it seems you got the price you were looking for!

The frame has never been ridden but the components are used, so it's really not that big a deal if you take it out. Not like riding it with NOS components. I'm not sure if the new owner plans to take it out though.

I never rode it because I had it built up with a near-mint Campy 50th gruppo and I wanted to keep it like that. You can see pics of it as a "50/50" here:

https://www.raydobbins.com/paramount/

I kept the 50th gruppo and stem for a future project, possibly to replace the C-Record gruppo on my De Rosa (https://www.raydobbins.com/paramount), but I'm not sure yet. Whatever frame I choose will be Italian, since that is the focus of my collection now - the Paramount was the last of my non-Italian bikes.

Thanks Jon, good to be here. I look forward to freely discussing C-Record!

BTW, do you guys check this site regularly, or do you receive notification whenever there is a new post to this forum?

Both!

There are a couple ways to go about it.

1st way - If you want to subscribe just to this thread: Scroll up to the bar and click on Thread Tools. On the drop down menu select Subscribe to this thread.

2nd way - Go to your User Control Panel, select Edit Options from the left hand column, then change your Default Thread Subscription Mode to Email. This way you will receive notification anytime someone replies to any thread that you have posted to.

Where as I practically live on the forum. Especially right now while I'm not able to ride for another week or so.

Ray, have you seen the new bike pic on the first page of the CR site? I'm wondering if it might not be long before springtime comes to Narnia.

I just saw that. I think Dale put that pic up because he took them. I believe he had that bike on consignment for a long time (years actually) and finally sold it not too long ago.

It is a little out of form for him to so prominently display a C-Record bike, but I don't think it means an imminent thaw in the C-Record freeze.
