Who sells nice Threaded forks?

*EDIT* Sorry, I meant to say "threaded" fork
Quick question for you guys.

In anticipation of shipment of my newly ppurchased 70's Falcon Black Diamond frame, I have been looking for a fork to match.

I'm looking for a relatively nice threadless fork with eyelets for fenders/panniers. The closest that I have found so far are some Dimension replacement forks.

I'm wondering if anybody knows of any alternatives. Preferably chrome.

Thanks,
JAson

Here's a tange in black... not particularly authentic, but neither is going threadless.

Surly makes this 1" threadless unit too. Also black.

Shops may have some old chrome threaded replacement forks, but I noticed that even the Dimension forks are now only available in black through QBP.

If you're looking for a fork to match a '70s falcon, you shouldn't be looking at threadless forks.

Bikes: IRO Mark V, Karate Monkey half fat, Trek 620 IGH, Cannondale 26/24 MTB, Amp Research B3, and more.

tange still sells a chrome one. It might only come threaded though. If you want threadless, and your frame is short enough, and the tange fork is long enough, you could always chop off the threaded part. jim

That could be but QBP doesn't carry it.

A "nice threadless fork" is an oxymoron...

Agreed. There are plenty of frame shops that will make you a new fork, but that will cost you real $$$. There are many high-quality forks at a low price on eBay.

It is for a 49cm bike with 54cm top tube. I think the headtube is about 12cm.

dime a dozen on the bay. Your LBS has 54 of them in a box in the back, also.

Good job. Now none of it makes any sense.

Bikes: 62 Falcon, 58 Raleigh Lenton Gran Prix, 74 Raleigh Pro, 75 Raleigh Int, 75 Raleigh Comp, 76 Colnago Super, 75 Crescent, 80 Peugeot PX10, plus others too numerous to mention!

This one could work, would need to be cut and threaded down to size for the short Falcon:

Here is another, especially if you have a "black" Black Diamond!

At least two problems
1. That is 1 1/8", don't you need a 1"
2. That is threadless, you want threaded?

I have a used chromed semi sloping fork from the late 70's, pm me if you want pictures.

this is spot on. go to the oldest, crustiest bike shop in town and tell them you have a PUKE and you need a cheap steel fork, ask them if you can just go dig in the box in the back, if they are crusty enough they will let you, then you can snoop for other goodies, like derailleur pulleys!!!!!

If he doesn't want it, maybe I could use it. I've got a forkless early '70s Raleigh Competition frame in the rafters. It needs about 180mm of steerer.

Thanks. But I decided to go with a fork off of an old Raleigh that I have in the closet.

Are you sure it isn't Raleigh threaded?

Bikes: The keepers: 1969 Magneet Sprint, 1971 Gitane Tour de France, 1973 Raleigh Twenty, 3 - 1986 Rossins.

Uh, one other question - was that Falcon originally built for 27" or 700c wheels? It's going to make a difference in the fork. Putting a 700c fork on a 27" frame is going to give you a slight 'nose downhill' position.

I checked, and I don't think it'll work for you. It's marked "Tange6 K" with Shimano SF dropouts. I'll have some pictures posted soon.

It's about 152mm of steerer. I think it was on 21" frame at the time, my guess would be 52-53cm frame on a standard top tube.
