Bikes: ah...lots of junk

What is this Dancelli?

I'm looking for a little more information on this bike I got. All I can find online is some stuff about Dancelli's racing career but nothing on a frame bearing his name. #'s on topside of BB read 110463.

Never heard of him or the bikes...but it looks like a realy nice 531 frame. I dig the painted rear drop-outs with the chrome.

dancelli frame

I have the very same frame, found by the side of the road, and could find out very little about it. They were probably rebranded frames from an Italian manufacturer, although most of these frames seem to show up in Germany, so it is not clear if they were marketed in Italy or the U.S. I built mine up as a fixed gear, as it was missing the rear wheel. Mine has Shimano 600 (Ultegra) components rather than the Campy. I especially like the lugs, which are Bocama Competition 83

Bocama lugs
I am very happy with the bike. Hope you enjoy yours.

PM waytoomanybikes, he owns one.

From his blog:
Named for Michele Dancelli, a road captain on Eddy Merckx’s Molteni team and winner of the Milan - San Remo.

Yea, the plan is to piece it together with super-record goodies. It seems like most everyone else's is in MAX tubing...cbux is your's 531? They do seem to turn up in/from Germany...might have to troll some German bike forums.

Yes, mine is almost exactly like yours. The fork crown is slightly different but that is it. Here are some pics

huh...mine has internal cable routing, yours appears to have external unless it's just the siding throwing me off. Also- how is your fork crown different? No 'D' cast into it? Any date stamps on yours?

Looks like a flatter crown to me.

Yes, you are correct, mine has external cable routers. So your bike is probably a couple of years newer than mine. My fork crown does have the "D" pantograph. My fork crown is the Bocama Pro, I believe, while yours looks like it may be the Bocama Competition (as are the rest of my lugs). Idated the bike from its Shimano components. I have forgotten, but I think it is from 1982 or 1983.
