Determining Stack Height?
I have a 1952 BSA Gold Vase frame/fork coming back from the powder coater. It came to me completely stripped and with no components. It is a 23" c-t frame. I was able to fit a Nitto Technomiic stem into the steerer tube w/ no problem. I was wondering how to determine what size (stack height) headset I would need to purchase for this frame.

Preparation: Hope that a stronglight A-9 will fit.
step 1: Measure the length of the stear tube from where the crown race seats on the crown to the top.
Step 2: measure the headtube.
Step 3: Subtract #2 from #1 to get stack height and compare to stronglight A-9 specs

Can't say if the A9, the Passage, or anything will fit right until you know the stack height of the frame, measured as cyclotoine has said. Ideally you can find a headset with all the correct diameters, correct threading, and the same stack height as your frame. But who can say ahead of time for such an elder statesman, despite the great condition it will be in.
