Bikes from Old Christmas Catalogs

Haven't seen this website mentioned before on here, and I just found it myself. It has a number of old vintage Christmas catalogs from Sears, Penneys, and Wards. Might take a while to load some of the pages, but you can find a LOT of old store-brand bike pictures on there. Neat stuff, even if they ARE dept store bikes - let's face it, we all drooled over them as kids, didn't we?

Cool! I noticed there were no bikes in the 1944 catalog, but there were a few toy aircraft carriers.

Bikes: 1959 Bottecchia Milano-Sanremo (frame), 1966 Bottecchia Professional (frame), 1971 Bottecchia Professional (frame), 1973 Bottecchia Gran Turismo, 1974 Bottecchia Special, 1977 Bottecchia Special (frame), 1974 Peugeot UO-8

Holy crap! Did you see the shipping weight on those bikes in the 1940 Sears catalog? 67-71 lbs!!! How'd kids pedal those things?

But no, I don't remember drooling over any of those as a kid unless it was as a very small child. I drooled over the Raleighs and Bottecchias at Gus Betat & Sons. Cool old catalogs though.
