Original or Repaint?

Any Cinelli owners out there? Do the decals on this mid-60's model A look original or has it been repainted?

(Ignore the gloss. It's just wax.) I ask because the seat tube decals look different from another I've seen. Then again, I think mine is a little older because of its BB port (pre-1965?).

Those decals look original to me. There were several versions of the model sticker. I would guess that the glossy foil sticker ist younger than the other SC stickers I have seeb so far. I have a mid fifties Model B and the sticker are similiar. The only exception ist that mine has different world champ stripes and no model sticker.

Excellent. I'm relieved to hear that. Sometimes it is difficult to tell if a bike has been repainted, especially if the paint looks old. Thanks for the information.

Nice bike Gridplan but I want to comment on the Burgundy Cinelli. It is love at first site and makes me feel pride in my upcoming build. The colour, the cinelli hubs, the modest drillium and colour accents really do it for me. And the Patina is really lovely. The parts are clearly used.

My Build will be the same but a few year later, a 1971 correct build. There is one remaining period incorrect think on my bike and that is the crown race. Everything else will be correct, and the same aside from me using barcons instead of DT shifters, and of course I won't have cinelli hubs but be using record high flange... I will even be using a TA bottle cage, what I assume can only be christophe special old logo clips, unicanitor saddle (black suede #2), campione del mondo old logo bars and the nutted/7mm 1960s 1A stem. It promises to be blissful. Seeing the cinelli has caused me to consider doing the accents in blue to match frame as oppose to white.. Maybe I will have to build the bike first before I paint anything.

Notice the very thin chrome on the early brass cams, it rubs right off. I polished mine to the brass and I think it looks cool though I have some NOS replacements if I feel the need to do so. EDIT: on closer inspection it's just the reflection of the tire!

I look forward to seeing pictures of your build. I like the burgundy Cinelli a lot, too. Its owner, Stefan Schaefter, bought it from Ken Denny.
