eBay Buyer Question

I'm considering bidding on a bike which is located in Quebec. I am in Virginia and I was wondering about the time frame for shipping from Canada and whether customs can create unexpected problems, anything I might need to be aware of. The seller has quoted $100 for US shipping. Thanks for any info!

Bikes: 62 Falcon, 58 Raleigh Lenton Gran Prix, 74 Raleigh Pro, 75 Raleigh Int, 75 Raleigh Comp, 76 Colnago Super, 75 Crescent, 80 Peugeot PX10, plus others too numerous to mention!

$100 shipped from Canada is probably a fair price, what with the devalued dollar (Canadians are now about on par with our dollar and theirs!) and international shipping. I have not run into problems with stuff coming from Canada, as long as they mark it as used, or a gift, etc. New merchandize can have import duties attached to them. As for how long, really varies, sometimes a couple weeks might be involved, but other times seems to go as fast as within US stuff. Large parcel like that will go UPS or something similar, usually pretty fast. Going Canadian Mail to US Mail can take a while.

I don't know what US customs is like but Canadian customs holds you by the ankles and shakes out every last coin they can. Doesn't matter if it is used or a gift or if you are an american citizen shipping something from your home, they still charge you. On top of that the couriers charge brokerage fees. We have some Canadian forum members so you would have done better if you titled your thread "shipping from Canada to the US" then some might chime in with their experience. I have not bothered to sell anything large enough as I don't want to deal with couriers I don't have an info.

This is totally wrong, they are funding their health care system with their snail mail system.
