campagnolo hub bearing cups - removal?
Hi I have tried searching the forum but did not locate any threads on removing the bearing cups from campagnolo hubs. I am planning to try a 3 point impact puller unless there is a better way. Mine are off my 1987 Lemond Zurich, sorry I do not know which hubs they except that they are 36 spoke with largish flanges. (any simple way to post photos?) Thanks AlexD.

When I replaced the cups in my Campagnolo hub, I used an old screwdriver and a big hammer.

I had mine removed at a local LBS. The guy had a heck of a time I guess, but was pretty proud when he succeeded! It was a large flange Tipo hub. Now, I find that there was/is a campy specific tool just for this!

Tipo is harder than record as there is way less of a lip to get your punch/screwdriver onto. I would really like to know what other way there is...
evwXX did you replace tipo cups with tipo cups? Tipo cups are much harder to come by and unfortunately a different diameter than record, making the upgrade impossible.

I got the cups from somewhere online back in the 90's, perhaps from Bicycle Classics. They went in fine to the hub once the old one was out. If I am not mistaken, there is also a difference between front hub/rear hub size, with the same model hub. Am I right or just fantazising?

Yes, I'd think front and rear would be different sizes as the bearings are. No, I've never in 35 years found the need to mess with them or even remove the dust covers for that matter!

The first picture is of a campy tool that pulls the hub cups, the second is of a perfectly acceptable and cheap cup puller from third-hand.
