Peugeot Comete Value

In the late 80s I bought a used Peugeot Comete for $500. I am guessing it is roughly an 1985-86 model. I cannot find the manufactures' serial number. I believe the number was on a sticker that has long since been removed. It has an aluminum frame, Sachs Huret derailleurs, and Weinmann 570 breaks. It's gearing is much higher than most of my buddies bikes. It has 21 cogs on the larger rear sprocket and 13 on the smallest.

While I do mostly mtn bike riding, I still ride this bike on a half dozen or so rides a year. It shows some cosmetic wear (Decal tear & scratches) but it is solid condition. Ideally I like a newer road bike, but I could not really justify the purchase for the amount of road riding I do. Also I have been under the assumption that my bike had little to no resale value. Am I correct or might it be worth a couple hundred on eBay?

Thanks!

1987 was the first and possibly only year that Peugeot sold the Comete/Galaxie in the U.S. Just prior to Peugeots withdrawal from the U.S., around 1990, they recalled all Comete/Galaxies. Rumor was they wanted to release themselves from any possible litigation if the bonded joints failed. At the time everyone was bonding aluminum joints and everyone was having problems with them.

You have a very rare Peugeots as only a handful escaped the saw. Peugeot ordered all frames to be cut in half!!! They were replaced with Triathlon frames.

Value? It depends....advertised correctly it will bring a fair amount. Advertised poorly....peeps wont blink.

Bikes: have about 30 bikes right now

From what I have seen on ebay even a low end peugeot will bring about $200 with GOOD photos and a WELL WRITTEN add.
