Who Made It???

In 1974, I bought an INTERNAL GEAR 3 speed CRANK SET. The crank set was big, ugly, heavy, and black, but it made getting up some of the hills on my commute to college doable (I put it on an old 60 pound single speed Western Flier bike)

I am trying to find a duplicate of that crank for a Sears Tote Cycle I have, to make it into a 9 speed. A "modern" 3 speed crank and derailure is not an option, I want this Tote Cycle build to be TOTALLY "Retro".

I thought the crank was made by Shimano, but from what I can find, they did not make such a critter. Does anyone remember this crank an who made it? I was told once that it may have been made by Bendex, but I don't think that is right, although they did make rear hubs, and a few other bicycle parts.
