The Bianchi is Finally Finished!!
Finally got done restoring the bike a ferw weeks ago. PastorBob had a sneak peak at it, and now im showing it to the rest of the forum. Bike is a 1984 Bianchi Nuovo Racing that I picked up on CL last November. Let me know what you think.
As Purchased: Bike was original down to tubes and tires. http://photos-g.ak.facebook.com/phot...55222_3913.jpg http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/phot...55224_4526.jpg Finished Product: http://photos-275.ll.facebook.com/ph...50521_6120.jpg http://photos-275.ll.facebook.com/ph...50522_6449.jpg http://photos-275.ll.facebook.com/ph...50523_6734.jpg http://photos-275.ll.facebook.com/ph...50525_7356.jpg http://photos-275.ll.facebook.com/ph...50526_7656.jpg Bike is casually for trade/sale in passing conversation with people. I ended up putting about $375 into the whole thing which included the bike itself, new tires, tubes, spokes to relace the wheels, tape, cables, pads, chain, Brooks(!!!), etc. Rides nice, but being a bigger guy, the bike flexes like crazy when I get on it. SO while I appreciate the bike as a piece of art, I dont see it becoming a regualr rider unless I drop alot of weight. |
Nice I hope mine looks that nice when its done.

:thumb: Very nice, indeed.
We've got three of the modern Bianchis, 2 in celeste, but they're just not the same as those classic oldies! Did you consider having the celeste repainted, japollner? John |
I thought about it. The decals were all in okay shape. Some were peeling and I took those and ripped off the peeling parts so that it wouldnt spread. There are only a few spots where the paint was rough...chip off the down tube from the brake, a small bubble on the base of the head tube and a few scrapes here and there. In the end, I kept it original just because I didnt have the money to repaint.
I am hoping to keep it around for a while and possibly sell it on ebay. I wont lie and say the thought of selling the parts off and fixing it hadn't come to mind, but now after riding it, I think its better I went this route. I would have been worried about frame flex had that road been gone down. In other news...anyone interested in trading for a vintage track frame? |
It's way to tall for me, and I already have a slightly older, but very similar Bianchi, so I think I'll pass. Great bike, though! :)

The REG cage shown in the "before" pic is original to the bike. They are kind of rare, you should clean it up and keep it with the bike.

Where did you get the tires with the red stripe I would like to locate some for my Bianchi build

Nice bike! It looks like one of the first Bianchi's I have ever seen when I was a kid living in Italy. If you can, lose the weight! These Bianchi bikes are just a joy to ride! Attached is a photo of a Bianchi I stumbled on in a Pawn Shop near a military base and was just beside myself when I saw how little they wanted for it. I had to put zero into it beside the cost of what the Pawn Shop wanted. It was like new about 10 years ago. Love that bike. Rides so well!
