Todays find....Peugeot
Found this Peugeot 12 speed with 501 Chromalloy-M frame today in a small shop and brought it home. Needs some clean up but it looks to be in good shape.
Simplex derailer SX610
Nervar crank
Mallard hubs
Weinmann brakes
Rigida 700c rims
It is stamped under the hub with B40559556. Is this the S/N ? How can I find the year it was made.
Thanks

1984? cyclespeugeot.com/SerialNumbers.html is what your looking for. Also check the hubs, as they should have a date stamp on too

Nice find on the Peugeot!!
As prettyshady mentioned you have a 1984 PGN10 Peugeot. The PGN is a full race model with geometry thats identical to Peugeots top of the line PSV, PX and PZ10 race models. Most Reynolds 501 models are internaly brazed, not the PGN, as its lugged just like the higher end bikes.
P.S.....lower your stem!!!

NICE find! I love mine. I redid it with Shimano 105 and it's quite a bit lighter than it was originally. Shifting and braking were much improved as well. I love riding it!,,,,BD
PS; Level the saddle out a bit. It will give your arms a rest.....

i jam my thumbs up and back into the tubes. this way i can point my fingers straight out in front to split the wind and attain an even more aero profile, and the usual fixed gear - zen - connectedness feeling through the drivetrain is multiplied ten fold because my thumbs become one with the tubing.

Thanks for the tips and ID'ing the year of the bike. First thing on my list is stop at my LDS for some air.
Looks like I'll need an adapter to get it done at home.
Thanks again, Mich

+1, nice catch! The only caveat I'd mention is the rear hub has a Maillard sticker on it...could it be a dreaded Helicomatic? You may be one of the lucky few who has no issues with a Helico, but read Sheldon Brown's article on them just FYI.
