OLMO ID help .

HI .
I recently bought an OLMO . and i would like some help on the ID of this cycle .
i can tell there are some parts that have been changed out over the years ,like the wheel set & the rear deailer but it rides like a charm .
3TTT steam
3TTT bars .
Campy Gransport Gold plated ( colored ) crank set .
i would assume everything else is Gransport !?
GIpiemme Dropouts
not the original wheel set . these are mavic with mailard hubs . Non heliomatic rear hub ( thank god )

thanks for any help . i would have uploaded more pictures but imageSHACK was not working ..

Cheers for any ID help .

Bikes: Colnago (82, 85, 89, 90, 91, 96, 03), 85 Cinelli, 90 Rossin, 83 Alan, 82 Bianchi, 78 Fountain, 2 x Pinarello, Malvern Star (37), Hillman (70's), 80's Beretto Lo-Pro Track, 80's Kenevans Lo-Pro, Columbus Max (95), DeGrandi (80's) Track.

I've got a very similar Olmo but mine has Campy. dropouts. Your frame's tube decal looks to be a Columbus SL. My bike's fork crown has the same stars as yours. The colour is the same as well. My downtube olmo decal is different though.

My frame is a 'Competition' model with decals stating this either side of the top tube. I also have a decal between the gear levers commemorating a world championship win in 1978 - does your bike frame have similar decals?

Olmo frames were imported into Australia and built up by the new owners - thus an inconsistency of parts - perhaps yours was originally a similar situation.

I would estimate your bike to be built around 1980.

@gary fountain .
Can you load up some picts of your Olmo ,please . im very interested in gathering clues about dates ..

anyone have any leads link to get more info on this Olmo .

this is all i can find , but on my bike its the wrong fork crown , but maybe its this model and justa different year . or maybe someone along the years changed the OLMO down tube decal ? you never know ..Olmo = there is nt much info out there , or is there ?!

my olmo fork crown

here is what i could find in the catalog scans hat seems close .

https://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/olmo2/8.jpg

https://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/olmo2/8a.jpg <-- 3rd column in english . matches the description to the bike i have , zeta tubing , grans sport Components . saddle bars ETC ..
what Could the year be possibly be on this model?

*************************UPDATE***************************

OK . i have made furthur inspection .
I was looking at the crankset .
on both arms on the inside its stamped 170 Strada " <9> " so the "9" would indicate the campy G.S Crank set was made in 197"9" ? so would could safely say its a 1979 OLmo at this point , or ?

**********************************************************
Cheers

No other leads - Bulgier is probably it! You can see other Olmo's if you search images. Here's my Olmo to have a quick look at:

I would guess that a reasonable price would be $400 - $600. Here's a view of the front of my Olmo. I would say that your forks are correct for your frame.

Nice bike !
I have nearly the track version of this bike... the awesomissima bike ever IMO ;-)))
Mine has a sticker that says 1978, but I think it is the 1981-2 model. I am nearly sure yours is the model that came just before...
(The fork is not the right one)

Hi Soderbiker,

Your Merckx looks fantastic. I would have to agree with you. I have a Merckx that is just wonderful to ride. Of all my bikes the Merckx is probably my nicest ride. I must say though, that my Olmo is also a bike I hold in very high regard for ride quality as well. When riding both bikes you tend to forget about the bike as it just does what it has to do and you just have to do your part.

It appears that your Merckx has a flat fork crown? My Merckx has a flat fork crown and I think this adds to the ride quality.

Here is a photo of my merckx, it was an old team bike and is in 'as raced' condition:
