Is this a real Colnago?
Hi,
I recently bought an old steel frame that has Colnago decals on it. I paid USD 183 or SGD 250 for it and the ride is seriously smooth, like the bike wants to move forward on its own. Very comfortable bike.
However, I would like to know if it's a genuine Colnago. The owner mentioned that it has its parts switched out at a point to mainly Shimano stuff, as he used the original Campy parts on his other bike. It now sports a Shimano 105 cranks, toeclips and Front-D, Shimano Exage Rear-D and also Shimano brake calipers.

I have since re-serviced the bike by changing away all the brake cables and shifter cables, took out the seatpost ( albeit in a most strenuous fashion ) and regreased it, and also slapping on new "vintage" white bar-tape. Even though the bolts are mainly rusty, the frame itself is in a generally good condition. The components are rusty and dirty but still of great performance.

I can't really see much from the pics you posted but I can tell you that the fork is not a Colnago one. On all Colnagos there should be clover cuts outs on the lugs and on the BB shell. Still, your bike looks really sweet. Check out these pics:

I would say not a Colnago. All the Colnagos that I have seen only have two cable eyelets on the top tube - not three. The bikes geometry looks to long to be a Colnago...all in all it looks like nice little bike. Enjoy it.

Pretty sure (99%) that is not a Colnago. Does not look Italian to me but check the threading. Fork reminds me of my Carlton Pro - same fork on the Raleigh Pro etc. Stay end treatment at dropout does not look Italian neither the seatstay caps (as cudak888 stated). If it rides nice enjoy as that is the main thing.

I also don't think it's a Colnago. Notice the cable bosses under the dowtube shifters, as if it may have originally had stem shifters. Plus the seat tube lug looks rather "thick" and as Kurt said, the seatstay caps don't look like any Colnago I've seen. However, you've already stated that it rides great, so that's what matters. And I think it looks quite nice, great color!

Here you go. I got the same bike but in Red, but these pictures are way better than the ones I have of mine. The cable kind of blocks it a bit but they are blunt.

^^^ I was going to point out that the wheelbase looked too long to be any Colnago I've seen.
Here's a Master from the mid90s that my wife rides. Not as detailed as the really nice pics above but the chainstay difference is obvious.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I am content with the bike even though it isn't a Colnago. It rides great for USD183 !
