Fork re chrome

I have a TSX Bottecchia frame that needs it's forks re chromed. It is pretty pitted with rust and has pantographed lugs. Does anyone have any experience with what I need to do? There is a chroming shop nearby that does motorcycle parts. Do I need to prep them or just take them in to the shop? Thanks

You should take the fork to the chrome shop and ask them any questions you have.

You don't do any preparation, they do it. Removing the old chrome is a job for professionals and it will be expensive. I've spent a small fortune having car parts chromed. They may not be able to get rid of the pits, depending on how deep they are. Sometimes an extra heavy coating of copper can fill them.
