help on this miyata???

Hello all, i need some education on this miyata that im looking to purchase from craigslist. can any of you shed some light on this bike. im new to cycling. the person selling the bike told me that it was a 1977 sport miyata and that the frame was 21" with 27" tires. he wanted 50 bucks for it.
also im about 5' 6", how can i tell if a frame this size is perfect for me? thanks in advance.

Looks like it's close enough to check out. Tell the seller you'd like to see if it fits you before you commit to buy. You might not be able to ride it, but you can sit on it, pedal backwards and get an idea if it would work for you.

A couple cm's larger might be closer to ideal, but that varies by your body proportions. But you'll definitely be able to ride it. Judging by the bike, you're looking for transportation, not touring, racing or serious training. It will be fine for your needs.

That's more like a 19" frame than a 21", and it might fit you fine depending on your inseam, arm length, etc. It's a low-end, fairly heavy thing, but if it's all functional, $50 isn't bad.
