Murray Mercury

I have a friend who has a Murray Mercury Strato-??? maybe liner. The bike has a spring on the forks, lights on the front fender, and a tank on the rail. He guesses that it is a 1950's. The front plate has raised letters that say, "Mercury", under has Murray ohio Co. Cleveland Oh.
Can anyone tell me anything about this bike? Can't find any info on it on the internet.
Thanks for all your help.
Matt

Not directly but if you check out oldroads.com and find their discussion areas there is on for "balloon tires" and you may find some info there.

The only Murrays I had direct exposoure to were dep't store 10 speeds from the 1970s. Nothing too special there.

Yours sounds more interesting.
