Antipodes' latest projects.

Hey all.
Just thought that I'd post a few pics of some recent projects.

His and her's 1975 Raleigh Superbes:

They're in great shape and were totally complete when I got them; even the fork lock keys! They cleaned up really nicely I think.

1981 Apollo Gran Sport porteur/city bike:

Though I have had this bike for quite a while, this is its latest incarnation. I'm still toying with the idea of making it back into a geared bike, mainly so I have an excuse to use the NOS TA Pro-5-Vis 180mm crankset I got a little while back. Any ideas for shifters? I was thinking perhaps an old original Shimano XT friction thumbie, or maybe a similar Suntour one.

Bikes: 1987 schwinn super sport with full 89 dura ace build, 1987 schwinn tempo fixed gear

That porteur bike is spot on-- if you are thinking about going geared you should consider a Sturmey-Archer 3 or 4 speed-- maybe even with a coaster brake to keep the lines super clean.

If you don't have a lot of money to spend, check the new SA three speeds. I paid $53 for mine from aebike.com. I'm sure they've gone way up in the last year. What hasn't?

Those Ralieghs are so beautiful. I think I could get my wife to ride with me if she had something like that. Nice bikes.

Yeah, internally geared all the way. However, I don't think a rohloff would be in the style of the build. I totally agree that they are super cool, but a vintage Sturmey-Archer would really make that bike excellent.
