Hi,

On a recent trip to San Diego I found a Bridgestone RB-1 Bicycle for a very friendly price and I happily snagged it. I later realized that it was made of a mix of 022 and 019 tubing. Even with the aggressive tire patterns of Continential Top Touring 700 x 32 tires, it has a very responsive surging quality that I found useful for exploring San Diego. I also ride a Raleigh R800 Columbus Altec 2 7005 Alumium bicycle and I have to say that the Ishiwata is very close to the pure responsiveness of going from 0 to 25mph in 6 secs.

Ishiwata is great
Ishiwata tubing (4130 Chromo) is very similar to Reynolds 531 or Colombus SL. I raced for a team in the early 80s that was sponsored br 3 Rensho and our bikes were Ishiwata. I wish I had that frame again.

Ishiwata made a whole range of stuff, from straight gage to super thin extralight. 4130 is nothing but generic cromo. 531 is actually manganese moly.
