Source for derailleur cable housings

I like the old style derailleur cable housings that are wrapped with round wire and have no plastic coating. I know that they had to go away from round wire to get the accuracy necessary for indexed shifting (or so I've read), but somewhere in the world, there has to be a place where you can still get cable housing like this.

I just haven't found it and in the mean time, I just end up using lengths that come with NOS shifter/derailleur parts. Anybody know a place to get this?

If you search ebay you can usually find some. It hasn't been made in a while so NOS supplies are almost nil. Good luck

Hmm, I'm wondering if there are any other industrial uses of this stuff where I may be able to find some.

Bikes: 1959 Capo Modell Campagnolo; 1960 Capo Sieger (2); 1962 Carlton Franco Suisse; 1970 Peugeot UO-8; 1982 Bianchi Campione d'Italia; 1988 Schwinn Project KOM-10;

I concur that nothing else looks right on a bike with old Campagnolo derailleurs. Fortunately, the stuff seems to last forever if it is not mistreated.

Two things I really wish would come back into production - this cable, and high flange road hubs. I used to say freewheels, but IRD is doing a good job.

Anyhow, I know Velo Orange doesn't have any - I recently suggested that they do find a source of this stuff. However, today I was at Proteus bicycles in College Park, MD, and I asked Jill Dimauro if they had any of this sort of thing rolling around the bottom of the hammer drawer somewhere. She said, no she didn't, but she actually used to carry it, that Mel Pinto, of Mel Pinto imports has a source, etc, and I might as well talk to him.

So I'll see what happens there.

Even though it does have the clear housing it may be as close as you are going to get it still has the retro vibe https://www.velo-orange.com/clbulalcaho.html or this might fill the bill too https://www.velo-orange.com/stbrcaho.html
