Is this worth saving?

A Univega Gran Turismo
It's been sitting in my garage for a few months now, taking up space. The brake cables are shot, and I have no idea what to do with cantiliever brakes. I don't much fancy paying 80$ to have the guys at the local bike shop do it either. I need a seat and tires as well. Do you guys think it is worth it?

if you are from sonoma I suggest putting it on CL for double what you would be willing to sell it for. it doesn't look like much but someone will bite and people like those shifters.

I got it for free, I wouldn't feel right selling it.

As a capitalist, I dunn see what that has anything to do with it. But OK, give it away to the local Salvation Army then.

BTW, those shifter cables are horrendous, ewwwww.

"worth it" is pretty relative. I'd sell it or give it away if it were mine, but I have better bikes. If I didn't, I'd keep it.

Bikes: cannondale m800 , kona kilauea,carrera valoure,

I would keep the shifters, i love bar end shifters , and give the bike to charity, but if it was me, i would rebuild the whole bike, but then i like that kind of thing,

Bikes: Many

There are plenty of us who would be more than happy to find a Grand Tourismo, in any kind of salvagable shape.

What type of bike would you prefer having, if you had a choice? What size is your bike and does it fit you? These are the two questions to ask yourself before making a decision on what to do with the bike.
