It's more likely to be a 1980 by looking at the components. Very tall...Have you tried to ride it? Try this link. It looks alot like yours. Cuda has added some upgraded components, but the same frame. He is a BF member and this came up when I did a Google search for 1980 Schwinn Traveler. Very cool story also...

Well the first 3 digits are the day of the year it was built and the last digit is the year. You just have to determine by the components and such as to what decade it was in.

This little 5 speed Sprite was rescued from a basement, i was worried about her.
But she cleaned up nicely, she has new tires and
the only issue is i don't know much about gears yet.
So that i will have to learn.

a gift from Sailorbenjamin

she's up on the stand, for a full tear down and repaint.

That Sprite is very nice. I really like the color. The only way to learn about adjusting gears or replacing cables is to jump in and do it. There is a wealth of info on here and the old reliable websites(Sheldon,ParkTool etc..). Have fun...You are becoming the "One Lady Bike Rescue"...

i have about 5 on CL.
i made up my mind to stick to Raleigh 3 or 5 speeds and perhaps a Schwinn if its cheap enough
now i have to get rid of all the 'other' bikes in the barn.
they DO breed voraciously don't they?
if the weather was better i WOULD take them apart, but as it is, i'd have to bring them inthe living room and there are already 3 bikes here now.

the Boston appetite for bikes seems to have waned a bit. Hopefully things
will pick up in the spring. Lot of bikes under $50 right now on CL.
