Well, I found my rear wheel. Stock rear flip flop from an 07 bianchi pista. Not high quality, but it was $50 and included a 16tooth cog and lockring.
We'll see how far I get running a 52T chainring and 16T cog. Muscles (or exhaustion), here I come!

I see lots of fixie pretenders with single speed freewheels and only one brake. Perhaps this is just natural selection at work. Fortunately, most of them choose to have just a front brake. Young kids of my generation would have believed that having just a rear brake was safer.

Let's see, fixie gearing, clipped in, head over heels crash... how many bones do you suppose a fellow could break with that kind of crash? Shall we include broken teeth and torn ACL with those figures?
