Centurion Goodwill Find

Picked this Centurion up today at the Goodwill for $8 --- been finding quite a few bikes there lately. It was looking rather sad under 14 million layers of dust, and I bought it thinking I could use it for parts. But when I got it home, I thought it cleaned up very nicely. The real wheel has a broken spoke, and both wheels need to be trued. Other than that, just some of the usual adjustments/greasing, etc and it should be good to go. I'm trying to talk Mrs. Mishmash into keeping it for her ride.

There are many small rust spots, and I thought there was rust along the lugs, but when cleaned I was happy to see it was gold paint.

It's got Suntour G7, and Diacompe brakes. The number on the seat tube looks to be 5U047, and an almost invisible sticker on the chainstay that says "Designed By Mitchell" (couldn't get a good pic of that)... Anybody got any info on this one?

I have more pics, but for some reason Imageshack isn't working well tonight. I will post more tomorrow.

Mid to late 1970s. Probably a Centurion LeMans or one of the many variants. The rear derailleur is a SunTour GT, as opposed to G7. The chainstay decal refers to Mitchel Weine a bicycle sales who created the Centurion brand after Raleigh backed out of a deal for 2,000 Japanese manufactured Grand Prix. Weine was stuck with the frames, so he rebranded them as Centurion.

If you want to narrow down the year, there will be two letter date codes on the back of the rear derailleur and two number codes on the back of the crankest.
