Here's a frame I picked up for free off craigslist. 23" size, super slack headtube, built for fat tired 26" wheels with cantilever brakes, but 130mm dropout spacing. The headset is an oddball, taking a 1" steerer but the outside diameter of the cups is 32.7mm (???) What's the vintage?

Apologies for the rattlecan paintjob.

I've got the low end Grand Mesa but all your frame details look the same as mine, except my rear dropouts are horizontal and mine doesn't have the cantilever posts. From your pictures it looks like the original color was green, so maybe it was is the "Forest Green" Elkhorn?
Hey, 23" is just my size. I'll double your money on that frame

Serial number indicates 1985. That must be it! I found a gallery of what it must have looked like originally. I dig the portage strap braze-ons.

It's a nice base for my current project. Except for the BMX-spec headset, which is just a bonus quirk.
