Wow! I have been struggling trying to figure out how to remove the cranks from a CL bike I recently purchased and stumbled upon this thread on accident. Not only did I learn how to do it but I realized I already owned the tool necessary to do the job :-) How cool is that? And thanks shady guy for the most helpful photos.

Maybe not, but a proper crank puller is usually less than a ten-spot. About the same price (or maybe even cheaper), than a decent gear puller. :)

I reserve my gear puller for Stronglight cranks - the Stronglight-specific tool is a bit pricier. :D

May I ask what gear puller you use for Stronglights? Two jaw or three?
