close-ups would help. post in the c&v forum for definite answers, but from what i can make out it looks a lot like my 1980's schwinn world. are the rear dropouts stamped or forged (thin metal or thick?) seat is not stock- schwinns from that era all said "schwinn approved". how many speeds? it should be a 12 speed, not an 18 speed. there is no way that has a triple up front, and even less chance its a 9 speed rear. if it is a world, it should say it right under where your chain is wrapped, in dark blue with white stripes behind that.

mid to late 80's, possibly a Traveler or LeTour. Tenax was used on their mid to lower lines during this time. Possibly built at the Mississippi plant as was the Schwinn Passage touring bike I had for a while. I'm going to move this thread to the C&V section where we may get more suggestions and ideas.
