Deploy (3rd time a charm) complete. There's probably more little issues lurking, but I'll have to fix those as either ya'll or I come across them. My wrist is bothering me a little but here's a few highlights of the deploy:

1) Components can now have up to 6 photos!
2) All new photos will be resized to a slightly larger max size
3) the Add Comment text box is now hidden until you click 'add comment', freeing up a lot of space on the page for other things to come.
4) obviously the major visual update. The header image is set to change randomly, approximately every 10 page views. So it won't be changing every time you go from page to page, but will occasionally change.
5) a Brand now has "primarly focus" field. I'm going to need some help updating all of the existing brands (a couple hundred of them) with what their focus of production is. ie, Raleigh's would be Bicycle Frames, Cinelli would probably be stems & bars, while Clement would be tires.
6) split Fork Crowns from Lugsets in the Frame Parts area. Prep for Frames coming soon.
7) added an "all" option to the Brand Directory.
8) initial deployment of new Frame / Bicycle code. This is hidden to all but Moderators at the moment. I am going to be opening it for a few beta testers soon. if you want to help kick the tires, PM me here, or email me through VeloBase.com

9) PHOTO CREDIT! Geez, forgot all about this. (Thanks Kurt). I'm working on a way to update the existing photos, but not yet. New photos will require you to put in a source for the photo. Please enter this information truthfully to ensure there is no copyright problems with photos on the site. Thank you.

that's what I can remember off the top of my head. there's other stuff that's not really important, or isn't important quite yet. feel free to poke around: https://velobase.com

CV-6 wins the award for finding the first bug I didn't!

VeloBase hosted catalogs can't be downloaded at the moment. I'll get that fixed up and deployed tonight. Should be a real quick fix.

I'm pretty sure I have a log in, but can't remember it for the life of me, lol.

I also seem to be having some Oracle based issues here at work, so it might be me.............

txvintage, still having issues or you pretty sure it was your work machine?

anyone else having any issues? I've seen a few error reports come in, but nothing major. Hoping all of the errors are generating emails for me to review, but I know sometimes this isn't the case so wanted to ask!

also, how's everyone liking the new look? Menu items on the left organized well in your opinion, etc? Constructive feedback welcome!

Fixed a couple of problems I'd found in the add/edit screens, and added the ability to update the 'source' of an existing photo. that should be the least deploy for a week or so till I get the next batch of changes ready to go.

I'm good. My scripting problems were a setting issue with my machine.

I blame Oracle, lol.

fyi - it appears that the site is just too busy these days for me to be able to do a stealth deploy of code to the server without bringing the site down. So, moving forward when I need to do a deploy I'll be bringing it down for a short time period (hopefully no more than 5-10 minutes) while the new code is copied over to the server. I've noticed some navigation problems and a few other small issues I'm going to try to get fixed tomorrow, so I'll probably be bringing it down for a quick deploy some time tomorrow evening. Hopefully this will be easier on everyone over all. Hopefully I won't do it in the middle of someone uploading a new component, but it's likely to happen to someone eventually.

Just pushed another update. Yes, the fixes and the new stuff just keeps pouring out!

A couple of points of interest for regular visitors and users:

1) I have now put a System Message system in place. This will allow me to give users a little more warning before taking the system down for updates (as noted in my last post). I will post other messages there if needed, but will try to use it only for important broadcasts of system downtime, known problems, etc.

2) Registered users can now select an Image Set to be used all of the time when browsing the site. There will be some Image Sets which will not be used for the random rotation, but only be available if you select them. You can change / set your Image Set on the Edit Account page, accessed from the VeloBase.com MyBase page. More image sets, and possibly different website color options will be made available as time allows. I am demoing two of the watermarks I've created as part of my ongoing Francophile photo contest. There is a Simplex SLJ derailleur hanging from a certain LeJenue making its mark in French Parts 1 and a PX-10 in French Parts 2.

Other recent changes include updates to the Add/Edit pages of Components, Head Badges, Tools and Jerseys. Changes should improve user friendliness when adding and editing these items.

Also of note, I have been sent a couple of new Catalogs which should be up on the website later this weekend. I have an 80's Simplex catalog and a Bertin bicycle catalog to get posted.

Latest batch of changes were pushed yesterday. Unfortunately I either have really bad luck or there is something going on with the copy of visual studio I have at work because the last two times I've tried to deploy from there it has failed, forcing me to keep VeloBase down until I get home for a second deploy. My apologies to anyone who was trying to access the site yesterday and couldn't.

A few notable tweaks in this update.

It wasn't actually yesterday's publish, but there is a new home page now. The old one really wasn't all that useful nor functional. The jumbo sized image buttons that sent you off to other parts of the site which were just as easily if not easier accessed by the left side navigation menu has been replaced by a general overview of the site's information including most recently updated items.

I've changed the Add Comment control some. I've had to remove the fancy Rich Text editor from the modial pop-up due to problems I found with some browsers not liking the combination of the popup and the text box control. If you want to add hyperlinks, color, etc to a comment, you can "Go Advanced" to access these options.

A few tweaks and improvements to the color schemes and some of the image sets. I'm planning on adding one or two more color schemes in the coming months. Probably one with some Red hues in it, perhaps inspired by my Serotta; and the other to be determined.

The biggest improvements however have been killing a number of bugs that were causing errors that I wasn't getting notified about by my old error reporting system. I've improved the system to make sure it's notifying me about more of the errors that are occurring to visitors and members alike.

As always, I'm open to suggestions and comments that will improve VeloBase.com. I've put the Bicycle Frame database on old temporarily till I get the existing code to a point I'm happy with it. Its certainly getting close, so hopefully I will be able to get back to work on that code soon and get it open to the members early this year.

I look forward to a new year of seeing the site develop and grow. We now approaching the 800 member mark and will probably soon after that be pushing 1000. Once the 1000 member point gets reached, I will likely purge the system of accounts that have not been accessed or used since the sign up date and have not contributed anything to the site. Even if only half of the 800-1000 members add 1 piece of new information to the site every month, it would increase the growth of the site dramatically. We have a decent number of regular contributors now, but with everyone's knowledge and help it can be even better.

(Re)Fixed the login verification image. Thanks to IceNine for notifying me about the problem. Appears that the fix that I put in place got lost when I was having trouble with the site on Friday which resulted in me deploying the config file again, which apparently didn't include the line of information needed for that image to be generated correctly. *hopefully* this time I won't copy over it again...

VeloBase.com will likely be down shortly in the next couple of hours. Please see https://velobase.info until I get the primary domain back up and operational. Having to move servers back to the original one due to the slow email issues I've been dealing with.

Edit: site is moved. I haven't finished synchronizing the photo directories yet so some images will be missing.

Edit: move is complete!
