Campy Friction Installation
I put the Record frictions on my slowwwwwly-building-up Ciocc last night. The rear lever has a stop around 90 degrees to the downtube. The front lever however, doesn't have a stop..I can pull that sucker way past 180 degrees. They both have the same simple innards... what did I do wrong?

you didn't put the stop on? What vintage Record? The ones I'm familiar with had a flange with a stop on it. It should stop the levers from going past the angle of the downtube.

Assuming these are what you have - take a look at this ebay auction 300265425366 - the first piece on both the left and right should be the round stop with the square cutout that goes over the shift boss. You should be able to push each shifter forward until it is parallel with the downtube then it hits the stop.

I might add, there nothing to keep them from going too far the other way except they will hit the cable.

Unterhausen...that's what I was getting at.
I've got the flanges with the stop tabs on already. I'm talking about reaching a limit as I pull the levers back towards me, not forward.
I guess there is no stop in this direction, and maybe the right side that seems to have one is actually just the lock-washer screwed down a bit tight?
Dr. D: Star Wars, painting tips...c'mon man, let's hang out.
