Bikes: Raleigh Grand Prix, Raleigh Olympian, Nishiki 10 speed?

Identify this Raleigh (if possible)

I am going to look at this bike tomorrow and I don't know what it is because the gentleman selling it is quite unknowledgeable about the model.
I know the picture is small but if it looks familiar I would appreciate any help I could get.
Thanks,
Andy

My shot in the dark is a Super Grand Prix. I had one that color pass through my hands awhile back.

I went and looked at the bike today. It was a super grand prix circa 1978. Bar end shifters. Weinmann brakes. The only problem 'i could see was rust on the frame and chain as well as rear cassette. Is this bike FRAME worth 70 dollars?

Frame alone for $70? That seems high to me as it's hi-ten steel, I believe, the lowest grade frame building material. As a complete bike, that's not a bad price if it's your size.

20-30 steel, but alloy components. It's pretty light for what it is. 700 weinmanns, centerpull brakes, forged Raleigh stem. So they're selling the whole bike, or a bare frame. If it looks as nice as the picture makes it out to be, then it's an okay deal for the whole bike. Bare frame, probably not as most everything good about it is gone..,,,,BD

That saddle looks to be one of two possible brands, if my eyes are working this morning..... One is a Cinelli, and the other a Vetta. Neither one is original, but both are decent.

It was a decent ride. Had some grinding/screeching the BB and the bar end shifters are hard to get used to. Like I said, there was a little frame rust as well as on the cassete and chain. I was kind of wary of buying because as I was leaving a truck pulled up with about 10 bikes in the back. I think the guy just tries to make quick turns without paying much attention to mechanics. His compensation for rusty parts was, "But it has new tires!" I think I am going to put my 70 bucks into making my 76 Grand Prix a solid bike. No Supers for me thank you.

If his selling technique is that of saying "But XYZ..." in response to another complaint, he knows nothing - other then how to flip junk.

I live all the way on the opposite coast, literally, and got sent that SAME Raleigh Pro ad. I wonder how many circulated that ad within an email with the subject, "I cant believe I JUST missed this!"

You just described me and 4-5 of my bike nut friends on any given weekend. Just because someone sells bikes they haven't completely rebuilt, doesn't mean they're hucksters. Everything I buy needs "something"? It was what it was, and is a little higher end than a regular GP. Not by a whole lot, but still nicer.,,,,BD

Only my opinions though.....

Bikes: Crap. The box is not big enough...

Hi Ten isn't the bottom of the barrel, by a long reach. Real gas pipe has been around on the true department store bikes for a long time. Whilst heavy, the Raleigh HiTen 2030 was really pretty good stuff, comparatively.

I see nothing wrong with turning bikes but this guy did not have a clue. That was the most frustrating part.
