Bauer bikes?

Hey guys I'm just wondering if anyone is familiar with this brand of bike. My friend is doing some studying overseas and he's looking for a bike, and stumbled across this brand. I can't really tell you anything that it has on it except that it has an old Sach's rear derailure. I'm waiting back for a translation on the article or if anyone here speaks german and could give a rundown on whats up with it it'd be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the help.

Bikes: Down to 4 vintage touring machines

I may be mistaken but I thought they were at least branded by a Canadian company that manufactured Bauer skates.

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Steve Bauer. The Canadian Bauers appear to be completely unrelated to this German one.

This is the German, Bauer brand. I don't know much about them, but the bicycle in question appears to be entry level. That's a rebranded Huret Eco, entry level rear dedrailleur. Sachs took over Huret in the early 1980s. Interesting Weinmann brakes and Thun crankset. The parts look 1980s, but the frame itself looks 1970s!

Bikes: too many

Bauer is a well reputed brand that has produced high quality bikes for competition use as well as ordinary "bread-and-butter"-bikes. They are well known for their artistic bikes that pop up frequently on Ebay, as well as for their nice "Weltmeister"-bikes from the 50ies.
You can find some pictures at https://www.classicrendezvous.com/Germany/Bauer.htm

This seems to be a quite ordinary example, although one in nice condition. It will make a nice daily commuter although the brakes will not be up to modern standards.
