It snowed last night and this morning I found a Go Raleigh in a buildings garbage and a alpine on the side of the road in a snowbank, heres what I have. Whats an Alpine? it's in pretty good shape, the back tire is ripped apart like it exploded, the Raleigh is missing some stuff.

The Alpine looks like it might have been a joy ride gone flat and thrown away type of deal, so for that one I'd notify the local P.D. and see if anyone reported a stolen or lost bicycle.

For the Raleigh dumpster find, looks like a project with some potential.

The alpine was found in a comercial area, a store put it out and a plow caught the rear wheel

I don't know the Alpine brand and can't give a date on the Raleigh, but it looks like you've got enough parts between the bikes to really fix up the Raleigh.

Actualy I have proberly 6 of these old bikes in pieces plus these two so I think with all this stuff I could get a few going, I got a wheel set identical to that Raleigh's and they look like they where bought just yesterday, the bikes aint what i'm really after but they do look nice when done, I really want a antique balloon tire ride, I love the looks.

Does the blue bike say "Alpine" on the head tube? Looks like it says "All Pro" on the down tube. There were some Alpine road bikes made in the early to mid 70's but they were a pretty nice road bike, nothing like this one.

if you were closer, I'd offer to swap my old schwinn cruiser for the Raleigh, but something tells me you're not...

The Raleigh looks to be about late 1960's---early 1970's. Missing it's Brooks [ $$ ] saddle. They are well built & you will be surprised how great it will look after some elbow grease & polish. I think Huffy bikes used the Alpine name, so it is less desirable, but still decent.

The Sports looked that way for ages, and near the end of the run, and I think near the end of their run, some came with a budget Brooks saddle. Based on the plastic on the brake lever, I'd guess very late 70's. The serial number will end the speculation.

The blue is is an All Pro. All Pro was a house brand name for K-Mart sporting goods.

That makes sense & fits with the appearance & components.

It dosn't look like much, I'm just gonna use parts from the blue one, it's hard to come by 3 speed shifters that are in good shape, I have one that I belive belongs to the Raleigh, anyone know what it's supposed to look like compleat? I have alot of parts, proberly the seat to, i'm in canada.

Guess that would explain the snow.

If the shifter says "Sturmey Archer", it would be from the Raleigh. Not sure which parts you mean. Maybe another couple pictures would be helpful here.

I just started cleaning the Raleigh up and noticed something, other then that rust, the frame has no rust, and hardly and scratched, it almost looks new, I suppose I could deal with brown, 20" frame, just my size, i'll post some pics once I clean them wheels up, oh I so have a question, It says the tires are 26" but they don't fit the rim, back when these where built was 26" something els or what not? I need tires but don't get this.

I think the tire size problem is easily fixed - they are the old English size 26 x 1 3/8 (E.A.3) tires not mountain bike tires. You need tires that say E.A.3, I.S.O 590, or 26 x 1 3/8 on them. Canadian Tire, Zellers or Walmart might have the tires you need, but most likely not a local bike shop. Last time I saw them at a Canadian Tire they were $10 each.

Does the Alpine bike also use the ISO 590 tires?

Thanks for the info, it did have same size tires, but it will nolonger be ridden, well I give the stuff I don't want away free so someone els may rebuild it, I needed a few pieces, the mountain bike is pretty neat to, with new pain it will be pretty good, and for the Raleigh, I'm glad I stopped and took it from the garbage pile, with all the snow I didn't notice well but it's in very good shape, heres some pics of it after the cleaning, the rim where not cleanable though, but I have some the same age that I polished up just for it. just abit more cleaning and the shifter all set up and it's ready to go.

Oh that blue thing wasnt alpine, it was allpro, no clue where I got alpine from. lol

I really wanted to ride it, a lesson to be learned, without the gear cable hooked up, do not ride a 3speed, it's very hard work. lol

You would have hated it even worse if it went into N while standing up & riding it !

Yeah... I know what thats like, I have had many 3 speeds in the past. lol

BUT, you will only do it ONCE !!
