Knock on wood, but still no tick has returned since the bottom bracket reinstall.
Nice; looks like a fun ride. Here's hoping the tick is solved.

I had not expected that. I got some Shimano thumb shifters on the way. Don't care for the grip shift.

The parts I took off are near mint. I was thinking I could sell them to recoup some money that I am sinking into it. It occurred to me that maybe I should keep the parts stashed for down the road, just in case I wanted to restore it to original. The only reason I can see for doing that really is if I was selling it and the originality somehow significantly effected it's value.
The original parts may very well come in handy down the road, almost always a good thing when you can say "oh and I have the original parts if you want them", many a sale have been closed with this.

Did the frame geometry change much and how, during the 80's-90's? I have a 96 and the top tube is very long.
I originally was going to do a drop bar conversion but abandoned that due to the long top tube.

Yep, mtbs have looooong top tubes, but that doesn't stop people from putting drop bars on them; here's a whole thread about it.

I really should look through every post on here to see if anyone picked up my old gray/pink RockHopper from the early 90s. First MTB I owned, loved it. Got stolen. There's a dimple on the right seat stay, if anyone sees it.

Very pretty bikes in this thread.
