Look very closely at the medium blue frame in the low center with the headtube just off the bottom of the pic, and at the silver frame and at the orange frame.

The orange frame looks like it goes under the left seatstay of the blue bike and over the left chainstay of the blue bike. A loop through a loop like a chain link. Next follow the silver frame as it's main triangle weaves around the blue frame's rear triangle. Is that pile a sculpture that someone cut and welded together? Or am I just tired and seeing things.

In any case it looks like a very interesting place to visit.

I agree, it looks like M. C. Escher stacked them up... Crazy.

I just sometimes notice stuff like that, keeps me out of trouble at times, other times it gets me into trouble, but still looks like an interesting place to visit.

That blue Varsity seems to have encountered some serious left-hand triangle damage - I'm guessing that there is a crack in the chainstay somewhere where both of the other frames have weaseled their way through. I don't see any cut'n'weld marks...

sounds like a great field trip to me.... I should be able to make as well... and sundays work for me.

Ah, you're right, I see a gap now between the BB and chainstay.

Count me in too. And on the way back we can go eat at The Hub restaurant in Tacoma.

bmaxwell 11-07-08 01:39 PM

ok so lunch and dinner are taken care of... does anyone have a motorhome that we could all pile into? or perhaps one of the extra large touring vans. We could tow a little trailer to put the frames in. Just a thought.

kpug505 11-07-08 02:10 PM

Dang! We're getting quite the interest! An RV sounds like a good idea....

kpug505 11-07-08 02:30 PM

Well....I called and the best bet would be to go on a Saturday......They are closed Sunday. I asked what bikes generally go for as well. A typical 10 speed sold "as is" goes for around $100....Bikes with complete overhauls top out around $300. They said they have tons of parts and a few frames laying around. So it sounds like finding killer deals may be tough if that is the goal. Supporting a Co-Op and some fun fellowship sounds like a good deal to me though....I'd love to put some faces to names.:)
And since I'd like to start a south sound Co-Op it would be an excellent field trip for to glean some info on!

So judging by this they no longer have that pile of frames or the pallets lining the fence? Dang.

An RV is an interesting idea. My suburban will hold 4 or 5 comfortably and lots of room for bikes.

I wish we had room to bring our own bikes and get a 50 miler together but maybe after meeting each other we can organize such an event.

kpug505 11-07-08 02:49 PM

I actually forgot to ask about the pile......I think a Suburban and a pickup might do the trick to get personal steeds there with enough room for goodies. It'll take some planning to coordinate a Saturday. I can take a day off no problem with some notice. How about everyone else? East Hill?

dsellinger 11-07-08 03:13 PM

I was by there 2 weeks ago and my wife yesterday. The whole side of the building is still lined with bikes

Like this picture but more bikes on pallets. Maybe they are not for sale, or are complete bikes, or they are already at junk status and need to be scrapped

bmaxwell 11-07-08 07:48 PM

I can make it on a saturday.. usually that is... I would be up for the ride, not sure I would be up for buying anything... times are tough but it sounds like a fun day.

East Hill 11-07-08 08:01 PM

Big bummer for me :( . There's no chance I can get Saturday off--in fact, I normally work ten hours on Saturdays because we are short-handed that day.

 ...
