my 51' spitfire

finally i got pictures of some of the bikes in my collection. this is my 51' schwinn spitfire cruiser. this is the bike that started it all for me and the original source of my addiction.

got this bike from a thrift store 15years ago for $25. still has the original seat.

this bike is one of the best riding bikes in my collection and bullit proof.

one of my current projects, a 62' jc higgins cruiser. definatly a work in progress.

sorry for the poor background or quality as this is my first attempt at photos. hope you enjoy.

nice pics. I like the woodsy background except for the one with the tarp. I think your spitfire is more of a '61 than a '51 but it's still very sweet. nice rides.

i actually looked up the schwinns ser#s in the past and it told me it was a 51'. a very stripped down 51' but none the less. now the black one i pegged between 61 and 63, just refer to it as a 62'. can't wait to get more picts up soon of the rest of my collection. perhaps snap some of my 3speeds.

My wife has my 57 Spitfire rusting in her garden as a garden ornament. Your pictures remind me of what a great bike it once was.

Thanks,

Bikes: 2 many

I have one too, also red. My chain guard has more decals on it. My frame paint is very different. Mine also has white painted wheels. Looks like your frame and chainguard have been painted. I don't know about the chrome wheels. I was told they were an option.

Bikes: one of each

That's just the way I like them. Plan and simple and red. They just look silly with 50 puonds of chrome and sequins on them.
