Campy = Campagnolo

Are you back on the value side of things instead of restoring?

Some info in this thread:

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ada+campagnolo

No, Strada = Road in Italian. However, the back does appear to be a Campagnolo to me. But I haven't seen the backside of too many Ofmega or Galli cranks. They did a good job of copying the front side, can't say they didn't do the same for the front.

If you're looking to sell these parts / frame, I suggest you put a thread in the Marketplace section of bikeforums.net, else please don't encourage the idea that these items are for sale in the forum. Thank you.

lipripper 11-24-08 04:09 PM

the bottom line is I am going to sell this stuff-
I just want to make sure I get a fair price for it-
very hard to get a value for this stuff-

lipripper 11-24-08 04:17 PM

will do-
sorry-
did not want to brake any rules-
just trying to understand what it is I have-
and I am still not sure-
again sorry-

bmaxwell 11-24-08 04:19 PM

put it up on ebay let that market determin the value or the parts and pieces.

lipripper 11-24-08 04:45 PM

crap---second thoughts-
I keep thinking that this stuff could become a familey heirloom-

cudak888 11-24-08 04:47 PM

Yep - that's a pre-CSPC revision (1978) Campagnolo crankset.

The Rest of the Story...

Lipripper put this bike on eBay two years ago with a Buy It Now of $899. When he reduced the Buy It Now price to $799 I pounced, as I had been looking for a deal like this for 30 years.

So, what did I get for the money? A third-revision Exxon Graftek frame in nearly new condition, the Campagnolo Colnago cranks (now mounted on my Colnago Master), Galli Titanium brakeset, Zeus 2001 Titanium BB, Zeus 2001 Titanium pedals with the Ti cages, Cinelli bar & stem, Edco Competition alloy headset...in other words using the going rate for the partial component set I received, I got the frame for free. :D

Since then, I have scored two other frames (first & second revisions) one of which was built (in his home) by the inventor, Larry Blake. Based on my subsequent interview with him, I have worked out an approximate dating timeline for these frames. So lipripper's frame is now my Sunday rider since it is the least rare of the three, now wearing a more-modern Campagnolo group. Feel free to contact me if you have interest in the timeline information. :thumb:

This eBay link is not the listing for the frame I bought. Not sure what the intent of this post is, but the three "welcoming" comments above from "senior members" have already really soured me on your site. The two pictures I have enclosed are of the lipripper bike as I first restored it, it now has the more modern group I referred to on it.

Hi Dave, all is well other than I am still jobhunting. As you can see, (1) the bike is well loved (2) the people on this site seem to be less than friendly. I do a lot of bike stuff over on another site, velobase, the people there are friendly and helpful. Looks like I'll be staying there. Hope life is treating you well. Tres

Who wasn't friendly in the above comments? There's humor implied above. Just saying.

lotek 08-01-11 02:58 PM

ExxonGraftek,

Much as I hate to say it, almost everyone here gets the 'pics or it didn't happen' type of comment.
Heck some folks still don't believe I scored a second Zieleman, for free.
hope you stick around and give BF a chance, I for one would love to hear more about the interview.
There aren't that many Graftek owners here.
I do have one question, having 3 frame have you experienced any galvanic delamination? I know
it was an issue back then. If so how have you dealt with it, and if not is there anything specific you've
done to avoid it.

Marty

Don't worry, there are still enough C&V CF framed bike fans out there....including me....:D
