How the Dutch got so tall, and strong ...

A couple of days ago Beaverstuff posted about a 70 cm frame he was looking for, and ended up with a Dutch Gazelle (join the club!). Very appropriate, since the Dutch are statistically (and on average) the tallest people on earth.
How did they become that way? This video explains the secret ...

Why didn't I think of that...I'm going to put some drop bars on my son's mini-mountain bike.

All the Dutch I have seen have been short and stocky, and I have seen many.

I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the little boy! That was great!

Bikes: Mostly English - predominantly Raleighs

Descendants of the Vikings (like Danes, Swedes, etc).

Now if you had asked why they're such good cyclists... "D

The Netherlands is the only place I know where taking public transit I feel short at over 6' tall. In the NYC, London, Paris and Milan subway systems, I can see over the head of most people, but in the trains and trams of the Netherlands, it seems like many if not most are at least as tall as I am.

And that's just the women. Schiphol, with all those tall blond flight attendants, is extraordinary. (Sigh)
