nine14six, not to derail the thread, but does your userid have anything to do with hot little early seventies German roadster?

AAAAhhhhhh Kurt there was a tackle coming along, but then East Hill would have grabbed it, I may have to rethink some of my stratagy here. So what happened to the short lived DeRosa?

Bought it to flip - wouldn't fit me if my life depended on it. It was a mish-mash too - an '80s model with Neo Primato decals. Never figured that one out. Was cheap enough though.

Welcome aboard 9146. First post with a bunch of well done pics? That's like bringing a dozen doughnuts your first day working for the police dept. Nice.

"Hi, this is my first post, here's pix of my bike, aren't you guys jealous?"
Jeez
Love the white Merckx. Late 80's early 90's? Sweeeet.
You officially suck.

When I'm through powdercoating my 1965 Royal Master 3 speed, you'll all be jealous!

You got it. Sports car racing was one of the activities that derailed my cycling. I still have a 914-6 that I raced with SCCA and HSR for a while. I think I'm done with that, but the name stuck.

Welcome to C&V, nine14six! A great crowd here sharing a love of "proper" bicycles. Love your Merckx's (is that the correct form fot the plural? - Never mind, Kurt will correct me if I'm wrong!)

Brilliant that you've met Kurt in person, I only know him through the forum as we live thousands of pretty wet miles apart, but find his knowledge very helpful.

The original 914-6's had a 2 liter flat six. Same as the 911 engine. It was only sold for the first couple of years. The 914-4s continued for a while after that.

The 914-6 was a blast to drive and a beast. It handled like on rails. You dont see them too often.

Here I was thinking the numbers probably were for the ages of his kids. good thing I didn't ask if they were boys or girls.

Here's mine. I pulled the original 2.0 six and plugged an '89 Carrera 3.2 in it.

Sorry, guys. Back to regular C&V programming...

Very sweet Scooper. That's the perfect setup for a 914. Lots of reliable HP and torque. I love the understated look with the original and un-flared body. I'll bet you surprise a few modern sports cars with that rig.

The front end starts floating at about 130 mph; it's a little scary at 140.

Because C&V is infinitely cooler then the anti-car cycling crowd.

Now that is a very nice looking automobile. I will take it, you can pack it up and sent it to me.

Or hhhmmm what if 9146 knocks you down and I will take it and run.

I'd imagine. My bud's floated a little earlier, due to an incomplete set of front bumper lower covers. It stopped rather quickly, as you can deduce. That's all I know about it. I put the engine in my VW van.
