Just picked this one up for the yet to be found 64cm Gazelle that i dream about. Not NOS, but curiously enough it came with original box and one-page manual. Price paid was a notch over a hundred. Vendor: a Seattle bike store.
It could appear that this post is only to brag about my new acquisition, but really, why is there no fluting on the crankarms? Fischer's VeloBase just says 'late model'. Super Record was discontinued in 1987? Is this the swan song crank of this group? It has '11' in a square box on the back and engraved logo.

What do you all know about this? Fair price? Probably not. According to most posts I read you guys get trivial stuff like this for free...

All I can tell you is that it is post 1984, as I have a crank arm date coded 84 and it still has the fluting.

For the record, I think you got a decent deal, BB and all.

the first ones without flutes were the 50th group, in 1983. I seem to recall that the flat SR cranks were released in 1987, but I could not verify that with a short check on the web. 11 is the date code for "no date code".

after 11 the date codes really get weird, as is the case in a lot of bar scenes, too.

there was one more version after this one with a lasered logo.

nice find Jan. Which Seattle shop did you find this gem in? I like the idea of starting a bike build with the crankset. In fact, I have built up my Equipe (almost, waiting for the Oro chain) with NR stuff and will be keeping the Mistral cranks and monoplanar brakes for some future frameset.

I picked up these same crank arms a couple of years ago off ebay. The seller didn't know what he had (and I didn't know what I was buying). They had a couple of worn out Nuovo Record rings mounted. I think I paid about $30 with shipping.

At first I used them on my '62 Schwinn Continental, just for the fun of it.



After I found out they were at the end of the line for this model, I decided they were perfect for the '72 Super Sport, "Sporty" build. I needed a triple for these NH hills so I ended up using the TA triplizer and TA rings to come close to that original Super Record look.

Jan, good grab on the late Super Record crank. Hopefully someone can pin down a manufacture date range for these so we can update velobase with more accurate data. Sounds like you'll have one beauty of a Gazelle when you find the right frameset. Have you put in a word with any of our dutch members to keep an eye open for such a ride?
