A little bit of bike therapy is usually a good thing. Nice capture of you on the rocks, BTW!

But we did manage to get in 28.9 miles today, Bedford to Chelmsford and back. The weather could be summed up in just one word: cold and windy! Temps never broke 40degF.
Nice stuff Jim! Glad you had a safe trip to VA and were able to get on the tandem today besides. I have to admit, I'm not too fond of cold weather riding, but am trying to get proper gear so I can get out there this winter. I've managed to go on some rides with temps in the mid-40's that went pretty well, so I guess it's about the gear and getting mentally prepared for the ride.

I haven had much to write about lately. Today was noteworthy though because it was dry all day. Well. at least no rain.
I got a late start and went for a long slow burn on my my fixed gear bike.

Cold fog for a few hours as I made my way up through the Snoqualmie Valley.

I was chilled to the bone. I stopped in Carnation to get some coffee to warm up

As I passed by Carnation Farm I see the dressed up the old gal

The fog finally burned away when I got to Redmond and the Sammamish River Trail

Others were out enjoying the respite from the rain

I looped around Lake Washington on the Burke Gilman Trail stopping briefly at the Kenmore Air Yard in Bothell.

I navigate through some residual traffic back ups from todays' Seattle Marathon and take the bridge East across Lake Washington

Losing daylight by the time I reach Fall City, I get a flat. That's it! Time to pull over at the Roadhouse, grab a beer and call for a ride home.

87 miles today.

A nice set of pictures northbend. I can only aspire to covering the kind of miles you manage, though I'm getting within spitting distance these days.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Gotta keep my mileage up to stay ahead of PG with all his talk of spit'n n all...

One more adventure hopefully this year in a few weeks time. I'll try to snap a few photos. Yesterday was a good way to make sure I'd be prepared to this...

Great response northbend! BTW, I'm not talking total mileage over a year, just a daily mileage. I've managed to get some about 3 or 4 rides into the 70 mile range this year, but a century still eludes me at least for now.

I didn't get mine this year, either. Unless I feel really perky in the couple days before Christmas, I'll have to wait for the balmy confines of DG

Here are a few pics I took in Florida today on a short 15ish mile ride. We're down near Fort Myers visiting family. It was in the high 70s with a light 10mph wind. The sky had some really pretty cloud patterns that I tried to capture. I hit some dirt roads on the Bianchi Brava which were a lot of fun.

Just a bit flatter than Rhode Island, was it? Did you take a bike down or did you borrow one?
(We didn't take the tandem to Virginia over T-Day because it wouldn't fit on the train.)

I keep the Bianchi down at my mother in-law's house to ride when we visit. Flat as a pancake, but much different scenery. I think it's snowing in RI now. so I'm glad I missed that slushy commute.

A little change of scenery does a person good. I'm with northbend on this one. You can nearly feel the warmth rising out of the road. Nice stuff.

+N where N >> 1.

I've ridden indoors these last two days. Work and weather impede one's desires. More importantly, health impedes. After two 10hr train rides, a visit to relatives, several very early mornings, and a tandem ride in the cold on Sunday I have come down with a cold. Fortunately it is pretty mild. In two weeks my employer wants me to spend a week in the Chicago area. And this week we have meetings (booooooorrrrriiiiing!) in preparation for the trip. I could use a warm bike ride. I'm sure glad somebody is getting some.

Today I rode a 38 mile loop I had scoped on Google Maps. It circles around the Phoenix Mountains in Phoenix AZ following mostly quiet neighborhood roads, bike paths through the mountain preserve, canals, and golf courses. What's nice about the route is it starts at my house and ends there with no overlap. One of the highlights is it skirts the Tempe Town Lake. Oh, and it was 70 degrees, beautiful weather. Here are some pics:

Heading up the Dreamy Draw, Phoenix Mountain Preserve

That's a Palo Verde Tree overhanging the bike path

Riding along one of many golf courses

We have many miles of bike paths like this in Phoenix

My 1982 Nishiki Cresta

Tempe Town Lake

The glamour shot with Sun Devil Stadium in the background. Today was a good day.

I rode another 10 miles or so today down in Florida. It was partly cloudy at around 75. I stayed off the main roads and rode primarily on dirt roads through groves and nurseries.

I know these roads look easy, but I found them to be fairly challenging in spots; avoiding potholes and plowing through deep sandy sections with 23mm tires. For my next visit I think I'm going to pack and mail my surly ss crosscheck to keep down here and send the Bianchi back home for some TLC in the garage. I've had the Bianchi down in Florida for 6 years now and the skinny tires aren't really suited for the kind of riding I do down here.

I finally braved the cold, after a week of getting used to it, and went for a very short ride around the neighborhood (Northern Ohio), in sub 40 degree weather to test out my cold weather gear. Found I need a scarf, but was otherwise comfortable. Hope to have a real ride report tomorrow. Two flats in less than a mile. Will install a new tube for tomorrow.

Ocean County, NJ. I can no longer ride through Bay Head or Mantoloking which was my normal weekend ride. A month after the Storm, Point Pleasant is a little depressing. it will be a while before the Shore returns to normal. Still great to be out on the road.

The pic below is the municipal parking lot for the beach/boardwalk access, now a staging area for residential cleanups.

We took the tandem out today, 36.85 miles. It started out cool and damp but ended up drier and with the sun trying to peek out.

How many different ways can someone ride from Bedford to Chelmsford and back, through Concord and Carlisle of course? The Bruce Freeman was nearly empty, devoid of both riders and leaves. The roads, on the other hand, had quite a few riders, and were covered with salt put down by the towns' road crews in response to yesterday's snow. It's going to take me 18 hours to clean all the gunk off the bike!

A stop at Great Brook Farm State Park.

This being C&V, here is the obligatory pic of the bike:
