Nice pics, folks. VR, that's a fine crop of young men you have there.
B27, is that a canal? It looks very summer. And I want that red/white VW bus! |

Last week, I took a one-night tour between Marbletown, NY and Poughkeepsie, NY. I was attending a professional conference at Vassar College. See my blog post here.

Hi Jim,
yes, it's the canal. Hambone, That section of the canal is through the Griggstown/Franklin area. Just a bit north of Princeton. |

A summer solstice ride I'll never forget: My friend @mountaindave invited me over to Kalispell to ride the Going to the Sun road at night under a full moon. Mother Nature decided to send a weather front over us as we climbed up to Logan Pass giving us only peek-a-boo glimpses of the moon forcing us to ride up and down with lights. A light rain began to fall and to the East, lightning was arching in the clouds over by St. Mary. We decided to turn around after descending East a short ways and climbed back over Logan for the 14 mile descent back to the car. David took the lead on the descent. He knows this road very well and I fell in behind him trusting his line completely as we snaked down the road in two bubbles of light that illuminated the rock walls to the right and the dark abyss on the left. This was no place to overcook a turn and I am certain I would have gone alot slower if weren't for Dave. It's a great to be able to ride with others you trust. I hope that others can think the same about me. Thanks again Dave for the hospitality. See you in September at Cino!

Did a 40 kms test ride of yet another MTB Frankenbike Iconverted to a drop bar bike. The brake levers on the drop bar had suicide brake levers but the suicide levers are gone now. Instead i filed a flat on opposite sides of hte part the suicide levers mounted on and then i put on a downtube shifter on each one. The cable housing is under the bar tape and ends at the brake body. Shifting worked really well and it was very easy to use the shifters. I'll post images later today after i take them when it's daylight.
So now I can convert any MTB to a drop bar bike and not have to buy bar end shifters. The neat thing with these brake body mounted shifters is they don't get bumped out of gear if the handlebar hits the frame. Cheers |

I did a 58 mile ride through NYC on my last day of vacation while my wife was in class on Wed. morning. I only took one photo at Grand Army Plaza at the entrance of Prospect Park in Brooklyn |

My first 'real' ride since my big crash on 31 March. There was some family push-back "What are you, CRAZY!!!" about me riding, but we had a discussion with the neurologist and she wasn't particularly concerned, but did strongly suggest (which I'd already decided) to start out on some [boring] bike paths. This one is local (Milford) and mostly quite boring, except for where it intersects with ramps for Rt 495. So, about ten miles round trip. As you see I used Sophia (My Torpado) - must be the longest ride we've taken in a very, very long time. Felt good. I'm in the process of gluing tires on Geraldine's new rims, and waiting for some other bits. |
Ed., good to see uou are back on a bike!

Great news Ed.!
And Sophia looks like a very nice bike. Brent |

Did a very hot and very windy 53 miles through the Twin Cities today. I took a route that was mostly like a longer one I did back in January when it was about 20 degrees. When I was finally home I felt like covering the same ground was a whole lot easier at 20 degrees.
Though I took only one picture. Going back through St Paul, I realized the Rossin hasn't had its glamour shot in front of the Irvine Park fountain. http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...7&d=1466887057 Looks like with the "upgrade" the hosted upload pictures are smaller when inserted as images. Not crazy about the white background either vs the old one (a C&V complaint I suppose...) |
Did about 80
miles of Jersey Shore on the Kirk, went from Brick Beach to Sandy Hook and back. http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/...pskvrpz9ls.jpg http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/...pszokokzgp.jpg http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/...pstvtdj9jt.jpg http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/...psa9bhpsh8.jpg http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9run3d1i.jpg |
Lotta blue sky in them thar pics.
We did 32.1 tandem miles today. Had a great time except for developling a squishy front tire near the end. http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri...2016/lunch.jpg http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri...2016/fixin.jpg |
Petal Pedal in Silverton Oregon today for 30mi. Ms. Merziac completed most of it bringing her total for the last two weekends to almost 50mi. very proud of her!

Spending some time in Western Maine this week. I brought my old Super Sport along. Got in about 32 miles this morning in fantastic weather. The hill are a lot longer here than I'm used to!

OTG, really nice! Even more impressive that you are riding the SS! If it was me I'd be riding the lightest lowest-geared bike I own.
We did another 37.5 (I think it was) on the tandem today. Hot but nice. Now I'm sitting in the back yard with a nice brew trying to keep the black flies from executing suicide dive-bombing missions into the beer. At the start, a bi-modal transportation shot: http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri.../BikeTrain.jpg The ol' vintage tandem at a quick stop at Great Brook Farm: http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri...tBrookFarm.jpg My sweetie says this is her view most of the time: http://world.std.com/~muller/pics/Ri...weetysView.jpg |
