So cool when it all comes together, everybody wins.

EVERYBODY was out riding in there since it's sunday and Capital One, VA Farm Bureau, etc... are closed. We rode out to one of the side roads, looped around, and came back to the parking lot. The nicest thing was, back in the parking lot, we chatted with other riders on Cervelo, S-Works, Cannondale, etc... some with time trial handlebars and things like that. Serious, top quality, CF road bikes! There were no attitudes or looking at me like I'm a "Fred", etc... They were thinking that it's cool to see a couple (my sis & bro-in-law) on comfort bikes, and me with a classic old school, steel frame, '85 Fuji 12 speed. It didn't matter what we ride, as long as we're out there riding. Very nice... :thumb:

Anyway, my sister took a photo of me by my Chevy Silverado pickup with my classic '85 Fuji road bike, after we got back to the parking lot.

My thoughts exactly... It shouldn't matter what name brand bike a person has. Even if a person has a cheap Wally World bike, that's okay too, as long as they're out there riding.

I have gotten a lot of comments about my C&V '85 Fuji by other riders...
"Oh man, I remember those!"
"Wow, that's a classic!"
"Hey, that's an old Fuji! I had one in college and loved it!"
"Yeah, buddy, nothing wrong with older bikes. That's a beauty!"
...etc...

Then this happened.....http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/...psmj2cvi5u.jpg The bolt came out of lower rack mount. Rack arm went into spokes. Was able to limp home 4 miles after removing rack. Lessons of the road...

ButchA 02-19-17 04:19 PM

Ouch @Kdogbikes I hope you are able to get the rear wheel fixed on that old classic Schwinn!

Thanks for the comment on my old Fuji. It was a steal on Craigslist 2 years ago from a college kid in town who graduated and didn't want it anymore. I added new tires, tweaked it a little, rewrapped the bars, etc...

I rode from my home to Yellow Jersey bike shop (many of you may have heard of it), about 48 miles round trip.

Rainy Day Hike

Sundays are my day to ride mountain bikes with the Forest Knolls Freewheelers but when the rain is coming down and the trails are muddy we hike instead.
Today's hike, in a steady drizzle, took us up and down Mount Tamalpais with lots of views of the very full creeks.

Spring must be around the corner. I saw my first Calypso Orchid of the year today.

The Battaglin basking in 60 degree February(!) Chicago weather. Unreal.

First ride of 2017, been off the bike since early September of 2016.

Did 28 miles up the North Shore.

Took a nice ride with friends yesterday. Looped around Riegelsville, PA, then over the river into Jersey, up River and Creek roads, then looped back down and through the Milford Narrows and then on into Frenchtown. Back tire was almost flat on the PX10 when we started to head back, and the new Zefal pump I had on it wasn't working at all. The owner of Corner Cycles put on a new tube, and helped figure out what was wrong with the Zefal (plastic mill tailings stuck in the valve). Rode triumphantly back through the Narrows as the sun set over the Delaware.
A beautiful day, but if I'd taken any more pictures, my friends would have left me behind in the dust.

Two days of warmish riding riding here, yesterday in shorts. The Woodrup got a bath about an hour ago, nasty stuff on the sides of the road.

The pizza cutters weren't quite up to some of the shaded sections of trail today.

100 mile loop down into the Pine Barrens on Sunday. Mostly paved, until...

Those puddles look rough, but they are a good sign. Wet sand supports a lot more weight than dry sand. In the places where drainage is better, it's really hard to ride!

Looks like they did a controlled burn recently.

@Sir_Name @rhm Nice rides fellas! I just got back in the saddle this morning after one week off of the road. It felt great! The trainer just is not the same.

Gorgeous scenery!

Love his segmented forks

I'd be for looking into his, one-on-one frame building classes, if I ever had the money. I haven't even heard of a 36er, must be some really large hoops on those. He is definitely in the right location for cutting edge mtb stuff too.

Took the 30 year old RockHopper around the Lake for a 90 minute ride.
The white water birds are Snow Geese resting on their northern migration. They rest for 2-3 days, then leave.
You can see one on a landing approach; it circled about 5 times before touch-down.
The wooden fence is for horse jump training.
The tree lined path is really steep and rocky, you wouldn't know from the photo.

As always HS, great post and pics. I am getting to where I really look forward to seeing your pictures here each morning. That Pug just speaks to me:love:, you built her exactly they way it should be, stem and saddle choices aside. And, those are simply personal issues to me:innocent:

Q: did you do the crank-set and chain ring dress up yourself?

Bill
