wrk101, Those are actually pretty nice bikes. I got these 2 about a year ago for $50 off of Craigslist. The P8 is an 82 model, the P18 is an 83. I have since the P8 over to clamp on downtubes with 400EX components. Carbolite frame is a little heavy, but very solid rider.

Update on the Sunday Le Tour find. It has a little work left to go, mostly cleaning and polishing, and derusting of the seatpost. New decals were found on ebay. Same year, but for a Le Tour Luxe. The colors looked okay, so the Luxe wil be clipped off most likely. I don't want to impersonate a nicer model. My shellac has thickened and darkened a little, but still seems to be drying well enough. It will just take less coats to reach the desired effect. I want it just a shade or so darker, to match the saddle.,,BD

It's going to look even better by this afternoon:-) Gonna hook up the beadblaster, and go over the seat post, then give it a 400 grit sanding. Also going to polish the brakes, another coat or two of shellac, and maybe polish the cranks a little more as well. The new decals shipped yesterday, so any day now I should be able to to finish it up.,,,,BD

Well, I didn't get to work on the seatpost... I was told 40 minutes before I left work, that we were having a meeting less than two hours later. Now today there is
supposed to be a huge amount of rain. I did get to ride it late afternoon yesterday. It was a typical Schwinn of that size, it fit me perfectly. Rode really nicely, and the handling
was quick without being twitchy. It's a keeper:-)

I just picked up this Sekai from Goodwill last weekend, I had been looking there and at garage sales lately for a roadbike and just happened to find it. It was marked $90 but it was 50% off saturday so I got it for $45 then spent another $80 on bartape, tubes/tires, and a waterbottle setup. Not sure the exact model, it only says Sekai on the downtube, the seattube had a 100%chromoly maintubes sticker and made in tawain, but nothing else. Looking at codes on the bottombracket and other parts I think it's a 1986 but any other ideas what model it may be would be appreciated. Here's a before and after pic:

Answered an ad for a "1980s model Puke" bike and found this....
hard to see from the small cel phone picture, but it's got early Shimano 105 and the frame is labeled "Mistral" It's got 700c wheels, nice white leather bar tape, aero levers, and the seat post isn't even stuck. Oh, it's triple butted Tange tubing (don't know the 'brand' or 'line' though...) . It was cheap & I'm happy. Anyone know about these bikes?

no complaints here...in fact, it has a really nice, light feel. It was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting something with stem shifters and safety brake levers. In fact, on the phone, the seller said it had 27" wheels. And, to someone who's not paid attention much to road bikes in the last 30 years, why would they not look like 27" wheels, right?

must have been a secret government supply of them distributed to Goodwill, my wife got exactly he same lamp, 2 actually, but ours have been painted white, and of course, she fu-fu'd them up a little. Cheap, cute, and quite functional as a murder weapon . . .

Ok ... Not saved from the dump, but picked up for less than $100 from the LBS. A 1977-8 Schwinn Superior. The sucker is a 26" (made for a GAZELLE or GIRAFFE no doubt!) It is in pretty rough shape and will need a LOT of TLC, but I couldn't help but get it knowing what it was and all. (I had one "back in the day" and wish I still had it!) Don't know if I'll fix it up, flip it as is, or part it out (I HATE to do the later... but I'm never gonna ride it)
It's red and has Nervar Cranks. the rest of the comp's are diacomp, Suntour VGT? and aren't too exciting. But a nice find all the same.
