Picked this up today. Some giant old Ross with full Shimano 600 Arabesque group.
Picked a His and Hers Super Grand Tour XV today. Now last year somebody picked up a Ross with triple 600 39/45/52 and we all thought it was a home brew. Apparently not because these are set up exactly the same. The 39 ring is on spacers. http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...1&d=1306369232 http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...0&d=1306369231 http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...9&d=1306369229 |
^ cool :)

I had the Ross with the triple. Nice know that the it was not a home-brew. Just gave the frame and some random (non-600) parts away to a young guy looking to build up a road bike.

^Excellent.

Picked up a 91 Stumpjumper yesterday. I've always wanted one of these, but this one is too big for me. I might try my luck on the "pass-around game" thread...

I'd do it Chris because I've been wanting one as well and it looks like my size. Unfortunately I don't have anything to swap. Or do I? |
I got this Bottechia 60cm ctt frame bare with a big parts purchase. Since I had a SS freewheel and crankset I built her as a SS. The picture does not show the bad paint condition. Unfortunately the QR skewer cannot hold the rear wheel - a replacement solid nutted axle is needed. With many other projects I sold to recoup costs and moved on.

Can't see what kind of skewer you are using but if you are using an open cam design they are ill suited for an SS application. |
After many, many garage sales and finding nothing but walmart and vintage mountain bikes I finally got something I wanted! Got this rough little Raleigh twenty for 10 bucks. It's gonna be a fun project!

The Dump, yes I actually get my bikes from the Dump, was good to me today - I think.
I picked up a 1990 or 91 Rocky Mountain Hammer in pretty good shape and mostly original. Since I am now starting to consider mountain bikes for my website, I though this Canadian made mtn bike might be good to include. And... If I am really lucky, a friend of mine on the west coast of Canada will want it for his collection of vintage Canadian made mountain bikes. If so, the bike is his and I will box it up and get it gone. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=203794 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=203795 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=203796 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=203797 |
I hate to be a buzz-kill, but you'd have to be putting together a very complete collection to want a Hammer in it, it was not a high-end or special bike. It was very very popular though, as it was RM's entry level mountain bike.

Update on my busted-ass Centurian: it's now a basket/doggieride bike, albeit a fast one:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2628/...9d900906_b.jpg Too big to ride with drops, too broken to sell, this is the result! |
lol.. its kinda painful to see an ironman built up as a city hybrid
what is broken on it? |
I love all those old Rosses showing up all of a sudden. Those models are pretty nice bikes; I believe they're pre-Kellogg, and one of Ross' first attempts at making a decent roadie. They ride well.
Today, just like last Saturday, I received a call from one of my contacts telling me there was a bike at a yard sale. Last week it was a pair of Specialized Allez, this week I was told it was an older Fuji, with an extra set of wheels. Not expecting much of anything, maybe an old s10s, I drove out to the west end and found that my contact hadn't read the name on the bike very closely. Instead of a Fuji, I found this: http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...rcopolo001.jpg It's a Puch Marco Polo, with a variety of components on it. The frame is main triangle Reynolds 531, dropouts are Shimano. You can see the remains of the frame sticker here: http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...rcopolo003.jpg Confusingly, there's a second frame material sticker on the downtube, but I believe that is for the stay and fork material: http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...rcopolo004.jpg The post is a 27.2, a very pretty Gipemme: http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...rcopolo009.jpg http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...rcopolo010.jpg Wheelset is Normandy Luxe Competitions: http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...rcopolo006.jpg Drivetrain is a mix of a Sakae Ringyo Apex crank and some Suntour mechs. The front is reverse-rise: http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...rcopolo007.jpg Included in the deal, for fifty bucks total, were an eight speed shimano 600 freehub wheelset, laced to Sun Rims, a pair of Look pedals, and (not pictured) a cheap Bell Helmet, unused, that actually fits me. http://i872.photobucket.com/albums/a...rcopolo011.jpg 50$ for the lot. A very good deal, and much nicer than the low-end Fuji I was expecting. One more weekend like this, and I'm going to have to book T-town in the fall. The bike is 52cm, so it is no where close to fitting me, so it's obvious swap fodder. I figure between this and the two Allez, I should be able to swap up to something pretty nice. |

I picked this frame & fork up on my local CL for $40 and gave it to my dad for father's day as a project for us to build together. It's coming along:

What an awesome score... some one already did a bunch of work to add that triple crank and derailleur set up as well as new wheels.

Yea exactly, just have to overhaul it and fix the weirdo seat tube thing they did. Only problem is the BB has play coming from the axle, it wiggles back and forth a bit, is this just a side effect of the modified BB? It seems like they kept the original cups and just put a long axle in it for the new cranks. I am just educated guessing since the BB looks like the original.
The bottom bracket on a 20 is 76 mm wide and is 26 threads per inch instead of 24 threads per inch so re-working one is a bit of a job. |

what is broken on it? It's been in a header - the top tube and down tube are damaged behind the head tube lugs. It's a bummer really 'cause otherwise it's a real nice bike. I don't think I'd feel right selling it to someone like it is, but I'm willing to ride it. On the other hand it did a great job of carrying my drinks around while I played croquet in the park and had a nice booze cruise to the speedway for demolition derby! Fast and practical! |

Terry saddles (demos) picked up for $5.00 each, Project 2 fork w/disc mount was $15.00, Ultegra triple was $15.00, 54 tooth ring (130 bcm) was $5.00, got some new Avid SD3 V brakes $for $10.00, and my friend gave me the Peugeot frame and 600 crank with the 40 and a 52 tooth ring. So I built this when I got home... A Peugeot Supersport with a coaster hub as I had taken these wheels of my CCM and was given the Marathons. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/2011pugss1.JPG |

My dad was about to throw these out because he apparently used them only for a few months in the 80s. I took them, and now I have C&V riding shoes! They're only about 5 years newer than my bike. Now I'll need to find vintage jersies to wear for my C&V rides. |
I picked up this Schwinn Le Tour III today. I have been really wanting an orange bike and I am going to build it up as a singlespeed. I hope it looks half as nice as 65er's Peugeot.

picked this up the other day for fun. Hope to get my 3 year old on it this summer after some more training wheel time. My daughters and wife giggle when I ride it too. Kinda fun.
