'70's Moto grand touring

I found this late '70's Moto Grand Touring at a Goodwill wearhouse a week ago. I was stunned to find it there as they have been having krappy bikes lately lol. I got it for a steal at $15 lol It was dirty and all but the stuff was there and everything works. Simply amazing. I spent an entire week kleaning it. Just took it to my LBS for a new rear tube, trued the rims and adjusted the brakes. Rides good and all and I'm keeping it

You did as well as those TV dudes, the American Pickers!

Nice find, I paid 4X as much for the very same GT and not as clean, with crappy handlebars and cracked rear rim. You have original spec Weinmann concave rims. But then again you don't have a priceless BBC (Budget Bicycle Center) decal on your bike.

Not for certain, but I picked it up at the Ann Arbor swap in April, the vendors had a big Hertz truck from Wisconsin, and the only clean item on the frame was the BBC decal, as evidenced below:

Thats funny that episode aired 4 days ago and I watched it when I was cleaning the bike lol

Yes it does have both of the Weinmann aluminum concave rims with Normandy hubs. Heck even the original Weinmann brake pads are still on the front and rear and they both have plenty of life yet. Quite amazing.

My friend gave this to me... just needed a saddle and post and I also swapped the tyres and tweaked out the drivetrain so the Xt short cage would play nicely.

The Dx hubs are as smooth as butter on glass and the rims are nearly dead true, the whole bike is silky smooth and a bit of a rocket.

Took it out for a test drive through the city and through the river valley... this bike is simply off the hook when it comes to speed and handling, it feels like every watt you throw into it goes straight to the back wheel and it climbs like a goat on steroids.

Those Specialized tyres are pretty fast on anything but I have a set of Avocet Cross tyres I think I will throw on to see how much of a pickup those 1.25's give and they are rather excellent tyres for XC riding... don't think I'd be hitting too much in the way of rough and rooty singletrack with this and have a Rocky Mountain Blizzard for that kind of intense riding.

Might have been one of the fastest and most enjoyable rides of the year... this bike just begs to be pushed hard.

1980? Trek 610

Picked this Trek up today from the original owner in Princeton, NJ. It's a 1979, 80, or 81 as per the owner and decals. The owner said he has not rode it since he got a Klein 20 years ago...unfortunately, he wanted to keep the Klein. Reynolds 531 tubing and just my size at 59cm.

I added the Flite saddle, as he did not have the original.

Personally, I would have rather bought the Trek and not the Klein, those Kleins were rough riding bikes. I rode a Klein when they first came out thinking I would get one, it didn't take me more then a 10th of mile to turn that thing around and say good riddance.

They only year Trek made a 610 was in 81 that I know of with that design of decal, they did come out in 84 with the 610 again but different decals. Those were nice bikes though, considered a sport bike which made them more comfortable then the racing series. Great buy on a nice bike, Congrats.

Any idea of the difference between the 610, 613, 614, or 616's? i believe in 1980 there were 613 - 616's.

Thanks
