Picked up this Raleigh Grand Prix for $40. My first Raleigh, and it looks like it will clean up nicely. According to Sheldon, the cotterless cranks put it '77 or later. Suntour derailleurs, dia-compe brakes, 27" alloy rims.http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=453265http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=453266http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=453264

This is how the A frame campers are built, the top is rigid and folds up and down and the sides collapse inwards... the split at the door is the height at which it sits when collpased.

It weighs less 1000 pounds and you can tow them behind almost any vehicle, my Jeep does not even know it is there.

It seats and sleep 4... I will probably add a 3 way stove, fridge, and furnace if I can find some decent salvage as it currently has it's original icebox and 2 burner propane stove.

I also plan to add a 12v electric system and a solar panel for lights and charging modern accessories... this will cover the forward roof panel and be exposed while the unit is folded or travelling.

This is what the Dualcraft trailers look like folded up (not mine)... I like the addition of the boat rack here.

It also has an electric hookup and breaker system installed with a single interior plug, not that we really need / want to pay for power hookups when we are travelling.

I got this leather tool bag and tools for ten dollars yesterday at a yard sale along with two nice 60s vintage chrome serving platters for snacks. Included in the kit was a spoke wrench and bottom bracket wrench which I didn't already have. So, not a bad catch but I'm still glancing in garage rafters hoping to find that dusty old Pinarello one day.

Yep, and don't forget to ask garage sale people for old bikes, even if they aren't in evidence. That's how I found my Trek 500.

"Any old bikes or musical instruments?" Is how I usually phrase it, and sometimes they magically appear. "This old thing? Howabout thirty bucks?"

Hi All!!

Just happened to stumble into one, the guy was in a hurry to sell, as no one here knows the brand, except for me.

only needed a good service to BB and Wheel hubs, relube the chain. new tires and it's ready, still had the original Miyata 700c x 20 tires, but they where dried up. so i put some Specialized Turbo 700 x 25,missing was the 105 Pedals, came with some Time Sport, and the original bar tape.

it rides very, very well, i had been wanting a vintage hi end bike from back when i started. now i have this one to cherish.

Picked these up at a thrift for $1 each. The 3M book has almost 50 pages on servicing various models of coaster brake hubs

If it's a good fit, yes; absolutely!

That is about half of msrp so not bad at all.

Wheels will start at around $500.00, tyres another $200 plus.

I paid 6 bills for the entire rig today... was a hell of a deal.

[QUOTE=oddjob2;17854436]Mine cost a bit more than a good bike and is a vintage classic.

Some day...

GordoTrek 06-01-15 06:16 AM

scored a decent set of White blumels off of a rampar r one, they look right at home on my 73 Gran Sport. the back one has a broken fender bracket, the rivets rusted out so i had to replace with regular bolts, but it works.

skidder 06-01-15 09:14 PM

Looks like the Coleman 'pop-up' campers sold here in the USA . They used to be really popular, not as many around today, byou sill see them rolling down the highways in summer:

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=455349Picked up an '87 Nishiki Backroads tonight for $25 off of CL. It's in pretty nice shape and is in my size amazingly. Wasnt able to ride it as it has a flat front tire, but tomorrow I'm gonna dig into it after I fix the flat. Mostly I'm hoping the thumb shifters/derailleurs are in good shape, the rest seems to be working well.

I used assemble & sell this very model at a shop I worked at until about '88-89. I love early versions of mtbs in general - it seemed like manufacturers were trying to immitate motorcycles with the oversize brake handles and bigger seats, yet the frames were very svelte compared to modern mtbs.

This particular one I bought has a killer (to me) teal paint job, with NISHIKI written in pink with white accents. So 80's! lol. I'm gonna do some basic adjustments tomorrow as needed and probably true the wheels, then eventually repack the bearings in the hubs, headset, and BB. :)

I'm so stoked to have found this bike tonight, I've been looking for one of these for a while but 80's mtbs are becoming pretty scarce now it seems. I also loved the Nishiki 'Alien', anyone remember those?

Pic shows bike after I removed the reflectors, spoke protector, cheap toe clips, and changed the front tube.

Gorgeous! What a great find.

Not really the catch of the day. This thing popped up on Craigslist yesterday evening at a good price. Ad stated nice condition, nice wheels and new conti 4000's. I emailed the seller asking if it was to late at night to get the bike. He said if I was serious he would meet. I was basically buying for the wheels and tires and resale the frameset. I told him if he would meet I would pay his asking price no questions. When I got there and saw the bike I realized it had 650 wheels, I went ahead and bought it seeing how this guy met me so late and I told him I would buy it.I don't think that saddle beam would hold my 200lbs.

That is a hell of a deal Sixty Fiver. The purple Pugs will only go up in value.

This made the deal even sweeter... my first Pug was also an '05 and not many were sold here 10 years ago.

Now they are ubiquitous... our climate really favours having some big boots in the winter although I have the most fun rolling up those fatties in the summer on the trails.

They were only sold as framesets in '05 so there are no two builds that are the same, my old Pug had the SS wheelset which is actually better for winter and water.
