I was recently asking about an '88 trek 610....it seems to have gotten away. Other recommendations? Something fun to ride, cool to look at. Good for 50-100 miles on a sunday....$300-$400. I'm not looking something mythical-I'm looking for something pragmatic, that I'll actually find. Age not important.

Thanks!

trek 520s are cool. Ive found some old Fujis on CL that were in good shape.

If you like Trek, you should be able to pick up a nice 80s vintage model for $250 or less. Or go with one of the myriad of nice Japanese bikes from the 80s: Univega, Miyata, Panasonic, Lotus, etc. Should be able to find one of them for under $200 in clean, ready to ride condition.

A nice 1985 Trek 670 with all Campagnolo Nuovo Record components just sold yesterday on ebay for $160.

Trek 560 if you can find one. Mine is Shimano 105. Fun ride - more racing than touring.

80's Raleigh USA bicycles with 531, 575 and 555 tubing are all quite nice also.
